It does look like it might be a little infected, there is a yellowish tinge to the scabs, and the surrounding skin is very red

sparklymieow · 27/06/2005 16:35

it didn't resize, bit blurrly so can't tell

Fio2 · 27/06/2005 16:35

it does look a bit yellow

happymerryberries · 27/06/2005 16:35

Not an expert, but yes a bit, I think. Bits look a little yellow?

Lonelymum · 27/06/2005 16:35

Looks like she has been scratching it, but not sure if it is infected. Poor dd!

Kelly1978 · 27/06/2005 16:35

poor dd, looks very sore. I remember reading somewhere that redness and hat surrounding a wound is the body's response to infection. It is caused by the blood rushing to it to combat the inection. So I would say yes.

QueenOfQuotes · 27/06/2005 16:35

it's all blury when I look at it - sorry

ouch - just resized it on my computer (can send it to you if you want to 'repost' that picture for people to see (or I can post it under 'member profiles' and then replace with a nice flower once people have seen?)

Looks very sore and she's definitley been scratching it, wouldn't like to say whether it's infected or not, but from a 'non blury' point of view I don't think it is.

QueenOfQuotes · 27/06/2005 16:41

nope tried again on your link and still really blury

Ouch...

From an excema sufferer's pov... No, I don't think its infected... just very sore looking.

A long bath in oilatum maybe?

QueenOfQuotes · 27/06/2005 16:46

here should be a slightly clearer (if smaller) picture for those with the knowledge.

sparklymieow · 27/06/2005 16:52

I would say no, thats how DD2's skin goes sometimes, looks like she has been stratching it though, it will be this heat, dd2's skin also gets worse in summer. Bath her and cream her up

SaintGeorge · 27/06/2005 16:54

If the redness was spontaneous then possibly - but if dd has been scratching then I would be inclined to put the surrounding redness down to that. Does the area feel warm to the touch? difficult I know in this weather but is it noticeably warmer than the surrounding area?

The slightly yellow tinge looks like normal ?fresh? scab to me ? infected pus would be more greenish and smell disgusting.

No medical training by the way ? just a lot of experience with someone scratching at their skin and infecting it
