So, I lost a centimetre off the end of my little finger. Has anyone else experienced this and what was the healing time?

I basically trapped it in a door and the end was amputated. It was a crush wound, and to give the medical details was a Type II volar plane distal injury.

I have had it sealed up, but has anyone any experience of when it will start to get less painful and less 'nervy'?

DH did something similar a few years back with a plane (index finger). Bled hugely and took a long time to heal properly. But it was less 'nervy' within 6m or so. Unfortunately he now has no feeling in the tip of his finger but occassionally gets pangs in it in very cold weather.

i havent lost that much, but this time last year i made beef stew....and tested my new knives.
lopped off the end of my little finger. had to go to see the nurse and get it bandaged properly, but no hosp involved.

it feels funny. tingles. but was sore for a good 12 weeks.

Oh my god, 'i found the end of the finger and removed it'. Did you tell the guests what they were eating?

The kids! Ha ha, best meal ever I bet. Dumplings with one hand, sounds remarkably calm. French and Saunders would be proud of you!
