Hi, this is really a favour for my sister....her DD is in y7 and is buying a "secret santa" present for a boy who has Type 1 diabetes. She apparently was at a loss to know what to buy him and asked his sister (who is in year 10) - she said he loves chocolate, so maybe a selection box. I know she must know more about her bros condition, but I thought diabetes (particulary those with type 1) couldn't eat normal chocolate? My sis asked me for advice, so of course I've come to the helpful mums here!! Thanks.

Those with type one can eat anything! We just carbohydrate count for them. I do not buy 'diabetic' chocolate for my ds2, it's just an expensive laxative!

Go ahead with sister's advice - what a kind thought to ask ahead. xx

Thank you so much, Bramble - sound advice and nice words. Glad to hear your DS can eat chocolate without a laxative effect!! Children cope so well, don't they? Thank you again. Merry Xmas. xxx
