Worried about FIL

Hi,

Just after some opinions on this really.
FIL is 43, is very overweight and used to smoke but managed to quit a few years ago. Not sure if any of that is relevant but anyway..yesterday evening he went to A+E because he was finding it hard to breathe and his chest felt tight. He has a chesty cough but says he feels ok in himself apart from that.

The hospital said he has pneumonia! They x-rayed his chest and said he has fluid on one lung and a shadow on his other which they are concerned about. They sent him home with loads of tablets and told him to get some tamiflu as well just incase! They want him to go back for another xray in 5 weeks to check his lungs.

Is the shadow on his other lung likely to be fluid as well? If it looked like anything sinister they wouldn't have sent him home would they?

Thanks for reading!

Also meant to say, im worrying because there seems to be a pattern going on here. When my mum was pregnant with me, her dad was diagnosed with lung cancer and passed away before she had me. When i was pregnant with DD1 my dad was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and died when DD1 was 2. Now im pregnant with DD2 and FIL is ill....tell me its not happening again!!!

Anyone? I know you can't possibly know what is wrong but im just wondering if fluid on lung could look like a shadow, or is a shadow something sinister?
