Worried about DH. TMI

Hi, DH had terrible stomach cramps on Sunday evening where he felt he had to rush to the loo. He passed a fairly large amount of red blood with some clots in. He says there was no poo just blood. It was just the once and since then he has had had two bowel movements that have been black. He is otherwise in good health and his stomach feeling relatively normal apart from a slight bloating, his stomach up to Sunday night has been fine.

He went to the doctors on Monday who has referred him to the rectal bleeding clinic as an urgent case and should be seen within two weeks. Does anyone have any experience of this?

I am in a bit of a state about it, DS2 has lots of health problems and has only just come out of hospital yesterday himself, I am 21 weeks pregnant and am trying not to over react but failing badly.

Thanks for reading. I have namechanged to protect DH as he doesn't know I am posting about this!

I'm guessing you're worried about cancer? There are all sorts of non-cancerous manageable things it could be Good that he's being seen promptly.

I think there was a thread by MoreSpamThanGlam a while ago. She had blood and clots which sounded quite scary, but it was nothing serious IIRC.

Thanks spawnchorus, yes I am worried about cancer. It's good that he went to the GP straight away I guess and that they are going to see him swiftly. I suppose it's the unknown at the moment and the reaction is to think the worst.

He has gone to work as normal and is now away for a couple of days working, which is good in that he is obviously feeling okay to work, but I wish he was here as I find I am less concerned when he is here as he looks so well. I know that's a red herring too though.

Thanks again for replying.
