this is a bit personal but wondered if anyone else has ever had this suddenly start?

what with one thing and another, busy lives, teenagers in the house up till all hours, excuses excuses we dont get to get jiggy with it all that often.

however - on saturday night we had the house to our selves.

next day i noticed i was bleeding and thought it was the onset of a period, it was similar to a the beginning of a menstrual bleed with dark, almost brownish blood.
then it stopped. no sign of a period - i dont have them very often - i have POS.

ive not long ago had a scan which showed nothing (was in the process of diagnosing p.o.s.) and my smears are up to date.

should i just wait this and see if it ever happens again?
or should i get checked out - slight embarrassment factor is that at the min i work for my gp...its slightly worrying thinking ill have to drop my knickers for my boss...
its never happened before. wwyd?

As you are up to date with smears and have been examined recently, I'd say leave it, but if it occurs again, or you get any other odd bleeding, go to see someone (family planning clinics or GUM clinics are a great alternative to the GP)

thanks. ive got a follow up appt with the gynae so ive rung the secretary, she says mention it when i go back, and that way i wont have to go back through my gp. she didnt examine me when i went to the first appt - she just looked at the scans/bloood tests etc. ive not got very long to wait though, it will be fine, ill mention it to her and see what she says.
thanks.

Hi Vicar
When was your last period? Sometime blood hangs around in the fornices and the activity may have dislodged it, it sounds like old blood.
How long is it until your gynae appt, if its a few weeks (under 3 weeks) then maybe leave it but definitely mention it at the gynae appt; but otherwise see your GP.

CMOT - even if smears are up to date - any unusual bleeding should be an indication for a visit to GU or GP. Cervical screening isn't 100% accurate so the national guidelines recommend other investigations.

thanks bela but my last period was ages ago, i have polycystic ovarian syndrome so i bleed once a blue moon anyway.

this was way too little to be a period, but too much to be comfortable ignoring, so ill mention it.

my gynae appt is on xmas eve. lovely. not. and i suppose that means ill have to do it again before then to see if it happens again...lol

having had a bit of a google its quite common with erosion of the womb which i have had twice before so could be that again i guess. ill let gynae lady have a poke around and see whats what!
