Third Generation Pill

As my cholesterol is high (though the HDL/LDL ration is OK and I am working on getting it down) I am thinking of changing from Microgynon to a third generation combined pill as I have read that they do not interfere with blood lipid levels. Can anyone recommend the best 3rd generation pill with least side effects for a 39 year old? I need more reliability than the POP pill. Thanks.

I you sure? If you google, all the reseaarch seems to say that the 3d generation pills are controversially linked with a higher risk of blood clots.

Not sure but that's what my new cholesterol book says! I think the 3rd gen. pills are linked to more blood clots but fewer cardio vascular diseases so better for people in their 30s?

You need to look into it more- I would have thought that with high choles. you were more at risk from blood clots than heart disease.

Thanks, I won't make any rash decisions until I have had another test in 6 months. Doc said don't change anything 'till then as it was my first test; but I have changed diet as it wasn't that good so hopefully it will be normal next time!
