I was sterilized on Tuesday and am still breastfeeding my 24 week old. The nurse said to use other forms of contraception until my period. Well my period could be months off yet. Presumably this waiting period is to allow any eggs that were already on their way out to remain unfertilized. My question is...does anyone know how long I should wait before not using extra contraception if not having periods? If I were to ovulate today, for example, there shouldn't be any way for the egg to get past the clip should there?
