Sorry for TMI but have piles and have been bleeding when I go to the toilet for about 3-4 years now. I also get a colicky pain on my left hand side.
I have googled and it keeps bringing up colon cancer. I am shi**ing myself and feel so scared.
On the plus side I have been putting on weight and I suppose if it was cancer I would have been really ill by now as it has been going on for nearly 4 years. I just keep thinking what if?

Go to docs and get it checked.... not worth the risk.

Blossomhill · 24/06/2005 20:21

I have jm and the gp said it was piles, nothing to worry about (she examined me) !

Hi BH,

Get your GP to check this out. It's highly unlikely to be colon cancer. Piles are annoying because they DO bleed and regularly too - worse when constipated. The colicky pain is probably just trapped wind. Loads of things cause rectal bleeding but by far the most common cause is the one you just mentioned - piles

Can't believe I am asking this.......

Aragon · 24/06/2005 20:22

Did your doc give you any medication like Fybogel/ Lactulose etc to reduce the risk of constipation?

Aragon · 24/06/2005 20:22

Here I am, on MN asking, what is in reality a stranger what her "ahem" is like.

She could be standing next to me in JS tomorrow.............oh wither.

Blossomhill · 24/06/2005 20:25

MrsGordonRamsey - what was your old name?

OP posts:
Blossomhill · 24/06/2005 20:26

MrsGR - Well at least we can console ourselves with the fact we all do "it"

My money is on Constipation then.

If it had been soft, then I would have suspected Irritable Bowel.

Popcorn is brillaint fibre.

Aragon · 24/06/2005 20:28

There's your answer bh. Constipation always makes piles bleed. If you've not got anything to help with this it would be worth asking your GP for something OR check at Boots as it may be cheaper to buy over the counter. I'd recommend Fybogel and Lactulose as well as Glycerine suppositories for emergencies. I had piles while pg with DS and all the above worked wonders at minimising bleeding.

Also if your GP has checked this out then he must be pretty confident it's all down to the piles.

PMSL

That is even worse you are just assuming you "know" me in the virtual sense and yet here we are discussing P>>>>>>>oo

OP posts:
Blossomhill · 24/06/2005 20:32

Oh really. Hellooooooooo

OP posts:
Aragon · 24/06/2005 20:35

Yep bh it can and does cause aches and pains - especially the colicky ones you describe.

MrsGordonRamsay · 24/06/2005 20:36

Hello

Only changed for a few days, but enjoying it.

Aragon · 24/06/2005 20:39

Yep MrsGR - he's a watchable one isn't he. Have to confess to a huge liking for him since the Kitchen Nightmare's series - he certainly knows his stuff.

MrsGordonRamsay · 24/06/2005 20:41

You would not believe the scurrilous nonsense I have had to put up with from NoddyHolder, says that she has sex with him regularly and that he only comes back to me to have his smelly chef whites washed.

Aragon · 24/06/2005 20:43

Make him wash them himself. Cheek - asking you to do them

FIMAC1 · 24/06/2005 22:21

Anal Fissure? = a tear in the anus which causes bleeding when you go -

A friend of mine had one and eventually had to go in for an Op, it was so severe the Consultant asked if she would mind showing it to a load of Med students as it was a good case study which she did as she had been so poked and prodded by then she was past caring

She hasn't had any probs since
