Anyone with any experience know if a night of heavy drinking could affect a liver function test a week later?
We don't have the exact results through yet but the doc has described DH's liver function test as having a bit of a 'blip' and was enquiring if he drinks a lot. He doesn't, actually, usually around 12-14 units a week, maximum. But 8 days prior to the test (they were testing for diabetes, which has come back negative, hooray!) he had an exceptionally heavy night of drinking with an old friend... the worst I've seen him in 13 years, he was throwing up and everything!! Probably he drank a good 3 times the amount he would normally have as a maximum.
Could this be the reason for the slightly abnormal LFT, or do liver function tests only show up abnormalities if it's a long-term drinking thing?
Thanks!
