DH is having a bronchoscopy - has anyone else had one? What is it like?

He is having sedation & a lavage (said with a French accent).......so what will it be like?

Am I mean going out on a Christmas do that night & leaving him with a friend?

I haven't had one, but have watched quite a lot (and been with the patient afterwards) for a different reason though.

They use a sedative that basically makes you forget everything that happened, so all you are left with is sometimes a slightly sore throat and a croaky voice (they numb the vocal cords as they put the scope down, so you have to let that wear off). And thats about it really. Some people are a bit sleepy after, but depends on how he reacts to the sedative.

He should be fine to be left with a friend

That's what I thought

Apparently I am mean & nasty to abandon him

I feel we need to keep things normal & calm for DD as she has had enough crap recently & to cancel the 'do' (to which she is going) would be alarmist

My Dad is taking him to the hospital & bringing him home (It's a 2 hr drive each way) again in order to keep things calm & 'the same' & so I don't have to close work
