ok, so I'm 30weeks PG, been suffering from bowel issues since the beginning so was put on lactulose, which mainly seems to be working. however had bloods taken last week and results came back saying that I have low iron, so been given iron tablets to take... 3times a day?!?!
what I'm concerned about is that it will make my bowels worse.... can anyone recommend what I should do/take/etc

I had similar problems in my three pregnancies. I would recommend you eat dried prunes and apricots. They are packed with iron but are great for constipation! 5 a day is all you need to take. Also, I was advised to take really cold orange juice first thing in the morning. Drink plenty of water also. HTH

Spatone is more effective than iron tablets IMO and won't make you as constipated - can get sachets from Boots or other chemists and just pop one in some fresh OJ. Also, try and eat well (easier said than done!) - green veg, red meat if you eat it, and dried fruit as suggested above. If you do take the iron tablets try and take them with food - I found when I took them on an empty stomach they made me feel really sick! Good luck!
