Has anyone else had this?

Just wanting some reassurance really. I started feeling ill on Friday night with a chesty cough - really racking one which hurt my ribs. Then spent the next 3 days in bed hurting absolutely everywhere. Every time I moved it hurt!

OK fine but yesterday evening I began to feel a bit better and then today woke up feeling awful again and now this afternoon/evening I feel really sick and can't eat - haven't been sick though. Just so tired and generally feeling ill.

Just want to know if anyone else has experienced this kind of sick feeling with the fluey symptoms or are the two separate.

Many thanks.

Anyone?

Poor you, sounds awful.

I haven't had it, but my BF just did (as well as her whole family) and they had a pattern of temps dropping after 2-3 days, then spiking back up again.....so they seemed to get better, then worse, then better and better.

That said, if your chest is getting worse or your temp goes flying up again, I would definitely call the doctor in case of secondary infection.

Hope you have someone looking after you!

Yes, this is exactly what DD and I have got. We're both on Tamiflu which is helping slightly. I found Buccastem tablets help with the nausea. Sorry can't offer any more help than this, I really do sympathise though.

Thanks for replying Castle and Eli. Glad to hear it's not something really weird. Day 6 now and feeling absolutely dreadful - still aching and feel sick and can't eat.

Have I had swine flue then?

Unfortunately I'm a single mum and so have had to soldier on!! Did get ds dad to have him for an extra night as I couldn't get out of bed.

Don't think I've got secondary infection but still have chesty cough but no pain.

Thanks again.

I'd call your gp as you may have a chest infection.

tinalouiseuk · 03/12/2009 19:43

Do hope you feel much better Lambypoo.

Being a single mum makes illness so much more difficult and having to pull yourself together, to do the necessary stuff of life, is horrid.

Everyone needs a mum when they are poorly.

CastleDouglas · 03/12/2009 20:30

Yes, it does sound like swine flu. Sorry to hear you're having to soldier on. If you're still coughing after 6 days it sounds like a chest infection (I'm no expert, but always get chest infections after flu). Hope you feel better soon Lambypoo.

nevergoogledragonbutter · 03/12/2009 20:33

that's an interesting choice of name now isn't it?!

lambypoo · 03/12/2009 21:01

I guess I am a bit weezy - maybe I'll make an appointment tomorrow.

Thank you all for your kindness and hope those of you who have a similar thing are feeling better.

It's the base of my back and hips that are the worst - and the lovely diarrhoea. Got ds into bed about hour ago and just collapsed on the end of his bed - totally exhausted. This thing is awful - another day off work I think.

Poor you. Just be careful with your chest. I've been reading (DH just came home tonight with SF symptoms) that it is possible to develop pneumonia after SF, so do get it checked out.

CastleDouglas · 04/12/2009 13:31

Lambypoo, how are you? Hope you're feeling better and managed to get an appointment.

Dragonbutter - am I missing something? (I've got my thicky swine flu head on).

lambypoo · 04/12/2009 15:26

Hi CastleD thanks for asking. Feeling a little bit better today so didn't go for an appointment. Still off sick and can't do much physically - get exhausted after 2 minutes.

You don't sound too good yourself. What stage are you at? Hope you are generally on the mend.

Take care and keep warm x

Hi Lamby, I'm glad you're feeling a bit better and I can sympathise with the exhausted feeling - I sorted some washing then had to sit down for 30 mins. I think (hope) I'm on the mend now, thx for asking. Hope you recover quickly too, take care x

nevergoogledragonbutter · 04/12/2009 19:30

I was just wondering what your connection with CD is?

CastleDouglas · 05/12/2009 10:36

Dragonbutter, I spent many happy summers there as a child

Hope everyone's feeling better

nevergoogledragonbutter · 05/12/2009 18:48

Ah ok.

Shoshe · 05/12/2009 19:00

Dont wait to long, I had this, the exhaustion was so bad, I could barely move.

Then last saturday coughing got so bad, that I couldnt stop, next thing I knew I was blue lighted to hospital with a collasped lung and pnuemonia.

I only got out of hospital, after being on oxygen for 3 days on wednesday.

I am still wobbly on my feet a bit.

Please please see the Doctor.

lambypoo · 06/12/2009 18:17

Blimey Shoshe sorry to hear that. It sounds awful. I have the complete exhaustion bit and feel sick all the time. I'm not coughing so much but when I breathe in I have this really strange sensation at the top of my chest - it's not pain, can't really explain it.

Maybe I should get it checked out. I am totally sick of feeling so ill and I'm just not getting better. Have just done the kid's stuff for school and now feel like collapsing.

Shoshe how long were you like that before you went into hospital?

Hope you get yourself on the mend very soon. Take care of yourself x

I was ill for about 4 weeks beforehand.

The pain I had was sharp pain along my rib cage at the top on breathing in or coughing.

Before that I had like a dull ache ther, I thought I had pulled the muscles from coughing.
