After tea last night the bottom of my tummy started feeling quite sore, like it was being tightened sort of... and my bum was also quite sore.

This morning i havehad severe spasm like pain about halfway up my anal canal, i have to sit carefully, and when i cough it hurts. It has eased up abit since going to the toilet though. Any ideas?

Hi, do you have ibs? i'm asking because this happened to me this year. I'd een in the town and had some lunch and after half an hour or so i got a terrible pain in my stomach and back passage. I went home and went to the toilet which eased the stomach pain but not really the other. It was just the same as you describe, sitting down was uncomfortable and the same when i coughed. After a few days of worrying i went to the doctor and he said it was most likely piles, i have had on and off bother with piles since my ds was born. He gave me some medication which did help but not completely.

I suffer from health anxiety and i was googling like mad! I'd convinced myself that i had rectal cancer. The worry ruined my sons wedding day and my holiday for me. Eventually the pain went away.

It would be a good idea to go and see your gp, but it most likely is something like piles.

HTH.

Go and see your GP asap. It is probably nothing but not necessarily. Mine was rectal cancer. Not good but better dealt with early than late.

HumphreyCobbler · 02/12/2009 16:39

Or could be an abcess. I was misdiagnosed with piles and suffered a lot of pain before having surgery to drain it.

alypaly · 03/12/2009 14:47

you can get a spasm in the colorectal muscles and it is like a constant achey feeling and feels as if you are almost squashing something when you sit down.Is that what it is like?

loopylou6 · 03/12/2009 15:30

Alypaly yes yes yes, i have to sit down carefully and when i cough or sneeze, i have to squeeze my muscles or it hurts like hell.
This started on tuesday night, quite suddenly, and its still going today.

Still sore KM, not been docs yet though.

we have given out a glyceryl trinitrate cream 2% for rectal spasms...ask gp if its possible that it could be that.

diddl · 04/12/2009 15:55

Last time I had I had a "pain in the bum" I was in labour!

loopylou6 · 04/12/2009 18:09

Thanks alypaly, its still sore today, but i think there has been a marginal improvment.
