How soon before an elective CS can you start taking it?

I had read that you shouldn't take it before a section and when I was in the health food shop buying some yesterday, the assistant sad the same. Something to do with the way it affects your blood.

She said to at least inform the surgeon that you had been taking it if you felt the need to do so beforehand.

I'm going to wait and start taking it afterwards.

No probs. Would have found a link to some proper info but I was about to go and do DS's bath.

If you find anything, let me know. I'm due to have my 2nd section in 3 weeks and I got a nasty infection last time so I'm desperate to not go through the same again...
