Anyone got suggestions for clearing post-chest infection catarrh/tightness?

As the title says really. I had a chest infection for weeks. Energy levels more or less back to normal now. Sleeping/eating ok. CT scan showed slightly squashed lung, but otherwise ok. Consultant said to give it a good 6 weeks after scan to get fully right (2 weeks to go). Still feeling a bit catarrhy/phlegmy and throat feels irritated/tightish. Don't feel ill, but really want to get right now. Someone suggested acupuncture - anyone tried it for asthma type symptoms or can anyone suggest anything else please?
Thank you.

Same advice as pofaced - lots of onions and garlic, ginger tea and manuka honey, and cut down on dairy. Plenty of sleep too.

You may think this is a weird one, but a firm back massage is supposed to help loosen anything lurking in your lungs, especially tapotement, which is hacking & cupping.
Plus the general massage movements will help drain your lymph glands and stimulate blood flow.
If you combine with essential oils it will help nasal passages.
BUT I would get the OK from your GP first, after results of your CT scan.

Oh, and Hopi Candles are reputed to help sinuses.

Or Reflexology??

Hi melsy, zephirine and poppet. Thanks for all of your suggestions. Have tried reflexology and am going for acupuncture today. Soup lovely - everyone enjoyed it. CT scan essentially normal (other than tiny bit of squashed lung ). Went for spirometry and said I had lung function of someone 4 years younger. Still got catarrh/phlegm which feels much worse if in a car with heated 'blowers' on etc. Got to go back to Drs next week. He asked if I wanted to try a months ABs or another steroid inhaler. Don't feel ill at all- just want to clear this up.

Just bumping this up as I'm suffering after a chest inf with gravely catarrhy cough. I don't get asthma either. What did you find eventually clear it mo3? My doc suggested a chest X-ray ..but is it necessary (radiation exposure etc)? Honestly I cough I sound like a 70 year old smoker atm! Never really had anything like this..had one round of antibios. Any advice? X
