Quit Smoking Thread

I'm planning to quit tomorrow and would really like to have the support of other MNers who also want to quit/have already quit/want to quit with me.

I don't think there's another quit smoking thread on the go at the moment, but if I've missed it can someone point me in the right direction and I'll join them and let this one go.

My smoking history:

I'm 33 years old and have been smoking since I was 14. I've had some brief periods off nicotine - a year in my late teens and pregnancy - but just felt like a smoker that wasn't allowed to smoke.

I'm desperate to quit now, for hundreds of different reasons, but mainly because I'd like to try to conceive DC2 next year.

I read Allen Carr's Easyway last weekend and stopped smoking last Monday morning. I was doing really well up until Friday night when DP and I had a row and I bought a packet of cigarettes to show him how much he'd upset me What a great idea! I've smoked like a chimney over the weekend, promising myself that I would start again today. Got to 10am and I burst into tears and then went out for cigarettes .

I'm a heavy smoker - about 35 a day [hates self]

I'm going to spend some time this afternoon reading on this excellent site.

Good luck.

I highly recommend Nicabate mints - I used these and it was like flicking a switch. I just stopped thinking about smoking at all.
