An exercise ball is a good idea, one with exercises included. Or yoga/pilates.

And if you're not very coordinated start with a few sessions with a physio or personal trainer so you are doing the exercises correctly.

if you get the large exercise ball. Get the right one for your height. DS2 has just got a 62cm one and he is 6'3" so if you are smaller ,maybe a 56 cm one. Blow it up so that your knees are at right angles when sitting.

My son is having to strengthen his core muscles as he has hurt his back playing badminton. You then pull your navel in and then try and stop yourself from pooing or weeing at the same time. Then rock you pelvis backwards and forwards in an almost slow thrusting movement. Do a few reps and then do the side to side ones carefully. Try to keep breathing normally at the same time. I am trying to get him to do this religiously as he has a really weak back and he is only 17.

th epooing and weeing bit is your pelvic floor muscles...BTW

Try to get to a physio dept which runs a back stability class. You will have proper assessment and be given the right exercises for you.
