Is it normal to have such a long wait to get lump checked?

Shortly after the birth of dd2 (13 weeks ago) I noticed a lump in my armpit. I mentioned it to the health visitor who got one of the gp's to look at it - he said to wait until my 6 week check and if still there they would get it checked.

So, it was still there at 6weeks and GP said would arrange a scan and should take about 6 weeks. Today I had an appointment through for 9th August which is approx.20 weeks since I first found it.

Although the chances are that it's nothing to worry about - what if it is? Will this delay make any difference? Is it usual to have to wait so long for this sort of thing? I guess what I'm asking is, should I query it and try to get seen sooner?

I think you should ask them why you are waiting so long. It probably means they think it is more than likely going to go away on its own but I would definitely check that this is the case. I had a lump they were very concerned about and saw the specialist the next day.

i had a lump in my armpit and it went away! it can be a swollen gland.
someone did tell me that if it hurts then that's probably what it is (mine hurt a bit if i pressed it)

It doesn't hurt at all which makes me think it is not a swollen gland or blocked duct.
