Why does my elbow hurt so much? Do I need to see someone?

I woke up a couple of weeks ago with a sore elbow- sort of achy. It hurts more sharply when I try to put my fingers and thumb together, palm down but not palm up. So, for example, trying to pull a plug out of a socket is very sore, as is even light movements whuch involve this action, like folding laundry, opening a screw-cap bottle etc.

It's on my left (non-dominant) side.

It hasn't stopped, is no better even after munching through nurofen for a day or so.

What do I need to do? It seems daft to go to the GP, especially if they don't know what it is. Should I see a sports therapist or something like that? I am skint though, and don't play sports- but I think I need to see someone who could tell me what the injury/issue is and how to best fix it.

Any insights at all gratefully received.

i do think you should see your GP. if you are lucky they will give you a referal to a physio.

do you have any olbas oil? rub it all over. the eucalyptus oil in it is a very good anti inflamatory. you could also try some ibuprofen gel rubbed in.

Will do, thanks. I have googled, and it sounds like tennis elbow, so I'll try being more persistent with the nurofen too.
