Which should I choose? Why are there two?

There are 2 because one (P) is not suitable for egg-allergy sufferers. P is a 1-dose jab and it contains an adjuvant (Google it). C is a 2-jab shot, 3 weeks apart, and had no adjuvant.

Some people are concerned about the adjuvant and the small amount in Mercury in P but it does protect you quicker than C (with P it take about 4 hours to be fully protected but with C it takes about a month).
Some people (Me included!) are concerned about C because it doesn't appear to have been tested as fully as P. Having said that, I had C last night

However, unless you have a severe egg allergy, chances are that you won't be able to choose. GPs are only offering P - you may be ablt to get C if you contact your local PCT, as I did, but other people have been told no.

Your best bet is to Google it all (or read some of the previous threads on MN) and then worry yourself silly about it for a month, as most of us are doing

Oh that's odd, I got that from our local Flu Officer!! Maybe I misunderstood and she said that you start to be protected within 4 hours? Wow, I wish I'd known that earlier - I was going round in circles about P versus C; I really wanted C but was worried about how muhc longer the protection took but it sems that it's only about a week longer than P!
