Trapped nerve

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 24/11/2009 15:23

I stupidly moved some heavy mattresses a week ago and since then have had bad nerve pain in hand and arm, coming from shoulder blade, I assume this is a trapped nerve.

Has anyone else had this? How long did it last?

ouch

TIA

I kind of wrenched my shoulder after reaching into the back of the car and lifting stuff a lot.

Took about 9 months to go and was pretty painful too.

I'd suggest seeing your GP.

Thanks. Have to lift heavy 3 year old with SN too.

Did dr just give you painkillers and physio referral?

In hindsight, I think I should've seen a GP, which is why I'm suggesting you see yours.

I couldn't be bothered with the phoning up at 8.30 (as if, I'm driving to school then) to get an appointment, or finding out there are none left for the day. Or, surprisingly, there are appointments free at school pickup time.

What I did find useful was an exercise I found online for frozen shoulders. I'll see if I can find it.

Thanks, have made appt for tomorrow morning.

I'm sure they will say rest it.

That exercise sounds good, thanks.

Ok, this is what I used, labelled as Figure 2 Pendulum exercise.

It's not the original website I found but it seems to be the same thing.

Thanks! Will try them tomorrow!

Well, GP said its not a trapped nerve as such but I have damaged my shoulder muscle which is swollen and irritating/pressing on nerves in arm/hand. Got painkillers and physio referral but it should settle soon, despite having to lift DD all the time!

Well that all sounds very positive and good to know it shouldn't last too long.

May the painkillers kick in soon!

Thanks, the painkillers and heat are helping.

Am going on a work jolly with free bar tomorrow though, so not sure if I will take the painkillers then!!
