mears to ease your fears it's an urban myth, it never happened )

to check out whether something you here is an urban myth or not use:

Snopes.com - Spider Myth

Hope this helps!

oh god, mears, how completely horrific! how am I meant to go to sleep now?
you get a similar thing with a worm in africa that burrows into your feet, lays eggs tht then travel around your body and come out of the joints, I think. there was a girl at school from swaziland who had this worm which burrowed from her elbow along her lower arm before emerging. EURHHHHHHHH. Have managed not to think about this for 20 years, ta very much

I can't kill a spider now after reading that they are very good mothers. Think of the poor kids!

mears · 03/06/2003 23:20

Aw, it wasn't true then

willow2 · 03/06/2003 23:30

Remember the bloke who is head of London Zoo's spider section saying there are no poisonous spiders in the UK - but there are cases of them holidaying over here from abroad! Hope you're feeling ok now though.

GeorginA ... you say it is an urban myth BUT ... my mum was a nurse in South Africa in the 50s and 60s and she nursed a man who had had a spider lay eggs in his arm!! Absolutely true story ... God's honour guv!!!!

GeorginaA · 09/06/2003 13:44

I have a total spider phobia, not for the little running about ones but the big buggers as mentioned here.
When I was 8 I dreamed a robin was fluttering in my hair, I woke up and there was something in my hair, a big sod-off spider! I screamed to wake the dead and since then...
Worse is because of the recent hot weather we are infested with the things. DH is the spider remover until twin DS are old enough to help mummy
