spreading red mark on husbands leg

My husband has this weird red mark on the back of his leg every morning. It's gradually getting bigger and looks like some sort of infection under the skin or something. He won't take it to the doctor because he's a man and becuase it doesn't hurt. It also isn't there in the evenings.

Just wondering if anyone had any idea what it might be and whether I aught to make a fuss and take him to the doctors....

Has he bashed himself recently? Mum had something like this and it turned out to be cellulitis. When you say it's there in the mornings, does it fade at other times?

Odd that it's not there in the evenings. I was thinking cellulitis too.

I would make a fuss and get him along to the doctors to have a look at this.

It may even be something like a tick bite; these can be symptomless (and they don't hurt) but if left untreated can cause health problems.

couldn't be a burst vein under the skin? that might explain why the blood lies at night and then dissipates during the day?

I was thinking insect bite as well - he should get it looked at, my DH got bitten in Canada, and they gave him antibiotics, didn't want him getting blood poisoning!

Hmmm tick bite is a thought. We go orienteering and it could be that he's had a tick and we've not noticed.... Will definitely make a fuss. Thanks people.

does he sit with his leg against soething like a chair bar at work ....which may account for it not being there in the evening

cellulitis hurts like buggry - also doesn't coma and go - just comes and spreads.

no idea wht it is though.

Scabies/mange? My DH picked that up at a farm. Didn't disappear in the evening, though.
