they did another echo this morning. he said even he could see it was bad and he doesnt have a clue about what to look for. another angio tomorrow. if things dont pick up then a LVAD may be needed.

he is no way fit enough for a transplant right now.

misdee · 21/06/2005 21:59

LVAD left ventricle assist device.

LGJ, i hope you have consulted your doc over the fluid retention. i am going to assume that you know its a sign of heart failure, and doc should beinformed.

when I see your threads misdee I always hope it's good news for Peter's heart. I'm so sorry he's so unwell on his birthday.

Big hugs; hope he's got the strength to get his choppers round the chocolate chocolate chocolate cake

PollyLogos · 22/06/2005 04:08

I feel quite pathetic always writing 'thinking of you all' and 'hope things get better soon' But I am and I do.Make that chocolate, chocolate cake with lots of love and best wishes stirred in from all of us too. Will you have 3 little helpers making the cake with you? That should be fun!!! My very best wishes to you and your family.

potty1 · 22/06/2005 08:14

Misdee - hoping they go with the LVAD to help Peter along, so sorry that he's stuck there on his birthday and during the lovely weather.

Feeling a bit p*ssed (sorry) with the whole heart thing at the mo, an online friend lost her babe on Monday to endocarditis and a pen-pal friend of dd whose 11 has been in PICU since April after her 3rd OH in 6 months and theres no sign of her getting out anytime soon .

Much love, you & Peter are on my 'thinking of you' list.

LIZS · 22/06/2005 08:31

I'm so sorry . Hope they can make him more comfortable and well enough to keep him on the top of the transplant list when the time comes.

anorak · 22/06/2005 08:41

Hi misdee. Although I've never met you I feel I 'know' you and your family through these posts. I think of you and Peter a lot. I'm sure you know that if wishing could make him better he'd be the healthiest man alive just from mumsnetters alone.

I've felt for ages I wanted to thank you for sharing this journey with us. It's real and so important and really gives me a sense of how lucky we are and not to complain about minor things. I admire the amount of things you manage to do. I'm sure you would say you have no choice but to get on with it as so many people do in difficult circumstances and in a way that's right, but it's the humour and dignity you display that sets people like you and Peter apart.

If there's any justice in the world things will get better for you both. xxxxxx

basketcase · 22/06/2005 08:51

well put anorak.
Misdee - I often type stuff to reply to your posts about Peter and almost all the time don?t post them because everything I type seems clumsy, rather trivial or just useless platitudes. Not having any experience of serious heart illness in my family, my views seem so unnecessary and wrong somehow. I always read your threads and posts and feel for Peter, you and your family so very much. Anorak?s post said exactly how I feel.
God, how I wish I knew you in real life well enough to help practically like offer to babysit now and again to give you a break, or just bring round a tub of ice cream. Large virtual tub being zapped over the net as we speak
Hugs xxx

Yes, great post anorak, spot on - so difficult to express just how much we think about you misdee and admire your strength in battling through such tough times.

How are the girls?

LGJ · 22/06/2005 09:08

Misdee

I rang them and they said if it happened again to come straight in to them or go to A&E.

But it hasn't, so I think it was a just your ordinary every day it is too warm fluid retention.

At GP's on Friday so will mention it again then.

Lots of love

LGJ

If you feel that you are drowning
and lifes stresses leave you flondering
just tell yourself
" one day at a time"

If your always in a hurry
and you always seem to worry
just remember
"one day at a time"

when you feel your burden straining
and the dark following clouds are raining
just repeat i will take this
"one day at a time"

when you miss the easy times
that you had so long ago
when love was all that mattered
and life seemed to go so slow
just think
"one day at a time"

when the pain you feel is un bearable and you want to stop the fight
and the days have seemed to lead only to
a sleepless painfull night
just remember
"take it one day at a time"

and then when your pain is over
and your back on track again
and you can stand in gentle showers
and smile your smile again
and people will say
your amazing how did you make it though?

you can say ...................

" by taking one day at a time..............

good luck to you all [[[hugs]]from AAA xxx
