DH is complaining of a sporadic pain behind his eye. He's had a pretty horrid sinus thing lately - could they be related do you think?

yes it could be as you sinuses run all round your eye. have you been given any medication?

treacletart · 20/11/2009 11:10

Cheers Alypaly. No he's not been to gp yet - just taking ibuprofen. I'm trying to force him to go so we can make sure its nothing nasty but he's being obstructive

Meanwhile try steaming over a bowl of boiling water with a towel over his head, you may have to do it every hour or so but it'll work eventually. I had sinusitis for a month once, nothing the GP prescribed touched it, my local and much valued pharmacist gave me this tip!

oh blimey yes, mine always feels like I look like old Mad One eye chappy on Harry Potter when I have sinusitis....
The steaming works for me usually, or a go with the old Neti pot.

I've had chronic sinusitis throughout my pregnancy and yes, it can be behind your eye socket. Steaming did help (with a touch of olbas oil or vicks in the water) but you should try and get your DH to see a GP. Sometimes it can be a bacterial infection (sorted with anti b's) and it is possible (though rare I believe) for it to affect sight long term if it goes untreated.

Absolutely - sinusitis makes me look like I've been crying for a fortnight and my eyes really hurt. Ibuprofen should help, but if it's infected an anibiotic would be better
