Peter has an infection in his leg

they are not quite sure what it is, but think it may leads to ulcers if left untreated. at first they thought it may be a reaction to new meds, but the rash was there before. it has been there for about 4 weeks so not sure how far the infection has managed to get.

he has bad fluid retention and low sodium and potassium levels as well as low blood pressure. apparently with levels this low he shoudl've been passing out all over the place.

Oh toots, I did post you a joke on your other thread but it isnt funny even when you are in the best of moods!

I really hope things improve for you - hugs to you xxxx

Janh · 20/06/2005 21:31

Oh, lord, something else for you both to worry about - I am sorry, misdee - infections/ulcers often arise from varicose veins (which can also cause surface rashes) is this a possibility or have they ruled it out or can't it be helped anyway?

He must be so uncomfortable, poor love, is it silly to ask how he is otherwise?

misdee · 20/06/2005 21:32

its riased a smal smile.

feelingpants as i asked several times over the weekend when his foor started leaking fluid if i should call the GP out but he said no. i knew i should've done.

how bad is it for an infection to be present for over 4 weeks?

misdee, I'm so sorry he's going through all this.

misdee · 20/06/2005 21:33

doesnt appear to hasve varicose veins but have notices his veins are closer to the surface lately.

generally he feels pretty good, they cant understand how he is feeling ok when his body (inside and out)is in such a state.

I don't want to sound like the Harbinger of Doom but could MRSA be a factor? just asking because my Dad has suffered after an op because of this.

I don't know your full story so please forgive me if I am out of turn xx

misdee · 20/06/2005 22:15

he gets swabbed regularly for MRSA, but its something i thought about as well. i am guessing they'll be checking for it again.

Libb · 20/06/2005 22:19

I am sure they will too - it is something they must be vigilant about xxx

Please take care of yourself, it is hard not to worry so I won't tell you not to - just do what you can to relax xxxx
