Lump under armpit? worried sick

I have name changed for this, for reasons I would rather not disclose.

I have had a pain under my armpit for a while now, where my nodes would be. I went to GP yesterday as I have been very run down lately and very tired. I mentioned pain as thought it might have been swollen glands. He checked and said he could not feel anything. He offered me a breast exam too, which i refused and said if i was still concerned in a month i would return. He said he would be more concerned if i was losing weight or there was any lumps. In the meantime I am having blood tests on Friday.

However, I was washing this morning and have found a lump about the size of a pea, under my armpit. Please give me your stories/help. I know not to google.

Please go back and see a doctor and have it looked at and a breast exam.

Is the lump painful? I went through a spate of these a few years ago, a sore spot in my armpit which then became a painful lump which then went down, kept on happening. It was nothing at all to worry about - I had it checked out with GP but have forgotten what it was now

I have had lumps in my breast twice, I was refered to a breast clinic and had tests done, and on both occassions there has been nothing wrong.

It is hard not to imagine all sorts, but the chances are it will be nothing. You need to know for sure though so please go back to your gp tomorrow and have a breast exam.

In the meantime, try not to worry.

Go back to the GP. See a woman if you prefer, or ask for a woman to be present while you are examined. Please don't be bashful - it is important. Do you self-check? Are you familiar with yow your breasts feel?

I had a pea-sized lump in my armpit once. GP examined me, inlcuding my breasts, and decided that it was an infection in a sweat gland. A course of antibiotics and I was fine.

could be an infected hair follicle, or sweat gland, could be a swollen lymph node which might mean you have some other infection and that's why you're tired.

tis most likely to be something that can be solved with some antibiotics so go back to the doc and then you can RELAX!

Hello. I know that you are worried but like many of the other posters have said, there are lots of possibilities. I had breast lumps, benign fibroids, ranging from pea size to 2inches square covering a period of 10 years. As you are clearly worried, you should go back to your GP to put your mind at rest or get a referral, these are usually quite quick. Could it be linked to your cycle? Get your GP to examine you and try not to worry too much. Take care.x

Doing nothing isn't really the sensible option. I know it is scarey but get checked out. All might be fine.

lumpybumpyme · 17/11/2009 20:29

I know I should go, just worried now
Lumo is sore, but no boobie lumps, but no redness.

I know it is scary but you could go and everything be fine - end of worry, or if there is something wrong the sooner it is sorted the better.
