Eggy burps

Sometimes I feel a bit uncomfortable and burpy, and find that my burps taste rather nastily of hard-boiled eggs. But I won't have eaten any eggs on that day.

So, why?

(They don't normally taste of hard-boiled eggs.)

i always get like that if i have a stomach bug

Olihan · 15/11/2009 22:45

I'm the same as Lou33. Usually means I've got a tummy bug, sometimes I get the runs too but not always.

colditz · 15/11/2009 22:47

Tummybug, usually.

PrettyCandles · 15/11/2009 23:09

But when I have a D&V bug, I don't get the eggy burps, and when I get the eggy burps I don't get the D&V.

I feel a bit bleurgh, but not sicky, and I don't get the churning feeling in my bowels.

I suppose it could be a different sort of tummy bug?

if you experience it quite a bit with no other D&V symptoms it's probably just heartburn.

If it's frequent I'd go to your GP for a check up.

Are you taking iron medication? Iron sulphate 'disagrees with me' as MIL would say. In an eggy smelly way.

PrettyCandles · 16/11/2009 16:35

Nt taking any supplements (tho I know what you mean ). I do reflux, tho without any heartburn*, but then I can generally identify what I've eaten from what comes up. These eggy burps are just gas, nothing more.

*Which is another thing that puzzles me: if reflux is supposed to be so painful, why does it not hurt me at all?

I have this, especially through my thrid pregnancy, and my GP told me it was related to IBS.

PrettyCandles · 16/11/2009 16:47

Mmm...IBS is connected with stress...and my bowels do go nuts from time to time, and I have been incredibly stressy for the last few years...I wonder...

Interesting!
I used to suffer from IBS quite badly and then when I became pregnant for the first time, my bowels were fine.
Then, New Years Eve 2006 I had these awful eggy burps that got worse as the day went on..in fact so bad that my sister and DH could smell the eggyness .
Anyway, long story short...3am New Years Day, I went into labour so perhaps natures way of 'clearing me out'?!
Was expecting this to happen again when I was pregnant with DD but nothing!
Aren't our bodies weird?!

lou33 · 16/11/2009 18:35

i have ulcerative colitis, but whilst it makes my bowels go nutso at times, it doesnt make me do eggy burps
