For the second time in less than a fortnight I have excruciating earache

Even heavy duty codeine isn't shifting it

It's in my outer ear
I am deaf on that side
My cheek/neck is numb
My gland on that side is the size of a small sausage

I am off my food, my sleep pattens are all over the place & I feel drained

I have a second lot of antibiotics/steriod drops

But I'd like it to go away - now please

You can get some relief by steaming your ear. Like steaming your nose but tilt your head to the side so the steam is going into your ear. Use a bowl of boiling water and cover head with a towel over the bowl. Earache is horrible.

I have been using a lavender wheat bag which is great but my neck is sore now too

I'll try that

there is quite a lot of discharge which is fairly yuk

have you tried dropping some warm olive oil into the affected ear, try sleeping as long as possible with that ear facing up?

ds1 had a chest and ear infection, but it left him with terrible ear pain caused by an almost total blockage of earwax

waremed olive oil or cerumol worked

I have done that with an inner ear infection but I understand the inside of my ear looks like an open sore & weeping 'ouze' atm - so I'm not convinced it's the right move (mind you my reasoning skills atm are a little suspect - so I am prepared to be wrong)
