Posted in chat but maybe that was the wrong place to expect a reply.
Just got told today by my GP that I need HRT to cope with my evil moodswings and lack of libido etc, and then saw consultant opth surgeon who told me I have cataracts forming. At the tender age of 48 I now feel about 90 and just really hope someone out there understands how I feel? Also quite scared about HRT having read the leaflet in the box - are there any fans out there?

Sorry you're feeling sad. I'm sure the HRT will help with that . I had a medically induced "instant" menopause at 40 and have been on HRT for two years. I have patches. They are great. I have my head in the sand about long term risk.

I think cataracts can be sorted really easily now, honest. I know it makes you feel old. My mum had two done in her sixties and it was very straightforward and very successful.

Cataracts now have to be done this month, after two years deterioration. Good thing is the surgeon is going to lift my eyelids in the New Year! Grin

Incidentally, the HRT was prescribed for a month and nearly sent me suicidal: then they decide I don't need the oestrogen and two years on I am still having regular periods...but I am using little HRT pessaries that stop me squeaking when I walk Wink
