just back from A&E and being catheterised after not being able to pee for 5 hours. Am 11.5 weeks pg and never had this problem in my life before. Initial test for urine infection was clear. Made mistake of googling and see that it's described as being very unusual - which threw me a bit, as figured it was probably just a common pregnancy problem. Got my 12 week scan on Tues and been advised by A&E doc to tell my own hospital about today's problem. Still not sure I'm going to be able to pee now, sorry to give so much info, but trying to get a sense of perspective. Have bought large bar of Green and Blacks in case heading off to A&E again shortly

I had this just after childbirth. There have been a handful of people on MNer who have also posted about having this after childbirth, so I don't think it is all that common. hope this is just a one off for you - it was for me, took a few days for things to go fully back to normal (i.e. feeling significant urges to wee, rather than just producing as I knew I ought to iyswim)

thanks you TC! think my Friday 13th came early, as I did end up back at A&E and being admitted and catheterised for 36 hrs. Thankfully back to normal now (although know what you mean about it still feeling a bit odd). Definitely an experience to avoid in the future.
