Try some dry toast. You need carbohydrates and dry toast seems to be pretty inoffensive to a dodgy tum.

LilRedWG · 12/11/2009 12:15

If you can face burnt toast then that is good as charcoal is good for an upset stomach.

athomeagain · 12/11/2009 12:24

Brilliant i have just managed toast what else is good ???

My father is diabetic so i will ask if he has any ketostix so i can check .

My vision is also a bit blurry but that can happen without proper hydration and food can't it?

Is being in ketosis dangerous? (sorry if that's a dim question!)

athomeagain · 13/11/2009 13:33

i think it can be if it gets really bad but i don't know what really bad is ,if you know what i mean.

interesting... I'm on Atkins, so deliberately in ketosis... hmmm

oh, sorry for the hijack

meltedmarsbars · 13/11/2009 14:31

Ketosis means your body is getting energy from fats (in your case probably stored fat) and bypassing the carbohydrate energy production system.

Normally once you have passed the first flush (!!) of the V&D bug and you start eating your normal diet, carb energy production will resume and you will be out of ketosis.

So it shouldn't be a problem for a couple of days, but you can ask for a telephone consultation with your GP - they will not want you in the surgery if you are infectious.

The main thing is keeping your fluids up and temperature control.

Hope you feel better soon!

bramblebooks · 13/11/2009 14:42

have a sugary drink - there are carbs in sugar too. Keep sipping if you don't feel like eating, although having dry toast would be really good.

Does sound like you need a phone consultation.

Get well!

TheMightyToosh · 13/11/2009 15:07

Sucking on boiled sweets (obv not the sugar-free variety!) is a good way to get glucose into your system if you are struggling to keep food or drinks down. Hope you feel better soon.

THanks guys any advice on the eye thing?
