Blood in phlegm

Is anyone about? I've had a chesty cough for a couple of days (I'm asthmatic too.) Just now I coughed up some phlegm (sorry if TMI) and it had a bright red streak of blood in it, about 1.5cm long. Quite a shock and I've never had this before!

Just Googled and there's so much about what it might be I don't know where to start.

Any medical people around...should I get off to the doc today???

Thanks.

I've had that. Could be any number of things. Needn't be alarming - might be that coughing has iritated yr throat somewhat.

I would go to walk in centre to see GP though. Just on the cough alone really - you could have chest infection which may need treating (particularly with the asthma)
