Found a lump the other day

Last week I found a breast lump. I went straight to the Dr expecting her to tell me it was my glands that were swollen as it is under my arm. She said it was not my glands and it should be checked out. She said it was more than likely a cyst.

How will they test it? Has anyone any experiences?

Thank you. I know I should not worry but it is always in the back of my mind. I am only 27 and no history of breast cancer in the family so I should be fine. I am just waiting for the appointment to come through.

My sister had a lump and she had to have a small sample of it drained off to be tested. She was also going to have a mamogram but in the end it wasn't necessary (not sure why). Her lump turned out to be harmless, she was reviewed after 6 months but it was fine.

I've just been through all this with a lump that turned out to be harmless. I had mammograms from different angles, an ultrasound (just like when you are pregnant) and then a biopsy where a little piece of the lump was taken out under local anasthetic for testing. It all took quite a long time (so take a book!)but as you can see it was very thorough.

None of it was as bad as it sounds (ie not painful!)and I'm very glad I went. Hope it all goes well for you.

I received my appointment on Saturday, for 13 of July. It did say it would take 1-2 hours so will take a book.

I too had a lump recently (hi pixel - my lump pal!)

The tests etc were fine, just took a long time. They should be able to give you a good idea on the day what they think it is, you'll get the results pretty quickly as well.

I found a lump a few years ago and they did all the tests, ultrasound, needle sample and said it was fine and perfectly harmless. I was advised it was fine to either leave it or to get it removed. At the time I decided to leave it as it did not bother me too much. But recently it did start to annoy me and was on my mind a bit so I decided tog et ti checked out again. All was perfectly fine, the breast surgeon was great and really reassured me. I booked in and got it removed under a local, was all over in about 10-15mins.
We always scare stories which I think make us worry even more. The best thing is getting it checked out early.

Can someone possibly reassure me.
I found a lump also in my armpiut several years ago.Had an ultrasound and was told not to worry as it was accessory breast tissue.
Couple of years later i had something called mondors disease which is basically a small blot clot in my breast-caused btw from repeatedly falling asleep with my child in my left arm in bed !
I did mention that the lump under my arm had got bigger but they weren`t interested.
Anyway 6 years later i just developed pain down my arm and its coming from this lump.When i went to see the nurse she read out the original letter expaining that it was probably accessory breat tissue and that i had been to the surgeons for removal !
I told her that i was never referred.
Now i received a letter today to see a breast surgeon urgently.
Is an appt. with a surgeon differrent to the person i would see if i had just found the lump ?
Am i going to have it removed ?
6 years is a pretty long time to wait for a refferral !!!!!!!!
