...Come and be a Venus In Fake Furs (with a nod to any vegetarians, who may enjoy the odd Quorn fillet...)on our healthy eating thread, and watch yourself vanish before your very eyes, if that is your aim!

We are supporting each other to lose weight, or just eat well and get fit- but we do like a bit of a laugh along the way, so if you are interested in joining Shiney and the other regulars here and be in the gang, just drop in and post as much as you can- the thread moves fast!

All welcome- the only quiches round here are the contraband in my fridge

Morning . Crappola night here with DD2 shouting off for 2 hrs but DH gave me a lie in

Rain, wind and generally miserable weather here so will probably take the DD's swimming later

DD1 painting, DD2 asleep (why oh why do i have the urge to go outside her door and shout the odds off? ) and DH making me special balsamic pickled onions. Lovely

DIB - Ballet looks fab, will look out for that one

Flamingo - did you run outside in the gale (i would be v impressed) or do you have a treadmill at home?

Morning all. Had a weird complicated very long dream all last night and so feel tired still. There was an airport, and an upgrade, and a chocolate tasting, and all sorts of stuff.

Asuume the 'bits and pieces' are kids thing so prob not, but I'm sure someone will be interested.

Presents sound good. Are you promising a proper girly day of shopping wiht a nice lunch and stopping for coffee (or some 10-yr-old appropriate drink) to go with the vouchers?

bellavita · 01/11/2009 11:01

Morning all.

Sazz you are back!

Have just caught up on my tv from last night whilst mn was broken. Didn't drink much when friends were here but had a great night, they did not leave till nearly midnight

We were trying to play down the fact that we have a huge 42" tv in our sitting room (although it is rather obvious) and also the fact that we have two new cars sat in our drive. Friends came but went through to the kitchen (have table in there so they were sat round whilst DH was getting drinks and I was finishing stuff off), they then go into dining room. Whilst eating big mouth DS2 has to just ask them if they have seen our new cars and tv - I just carried on talking as if he had not even spoken. Bloody kids eh!

As they walked out on to the drive to go home she asked if we had won the lottery

TrillianSlasher · 01/11/2009 11:04

at won the lottey

Shiney, those are fab presents.

We are finding it difficult this year to know what to get ours.

DS1 has just bought himself an I-Pod Touch (had he not, we would have got him one). He is going to get a flat screen tv for his bedroom and a new phone - few stocking fillers.

DS2 is going to get a netbook and some lego city and a few stocking fillers.

DONE!

By stocking fillers, I mean small - like Guinness Book of Records, new pencil case, selection box..

I have just got a niece and nephew, parents and grandad to buy for and that is it.

So, you are going to pay an extra £75 for a camera and an MP3 player then Shiney?

SazZaVoom · 01/11/2009 11:09

LOL at lottery winning Bella, probably the giant shiny things weighing your ears down that made them wonder

I limited DH to a 32 inch tv as we don;t have a huge lounge. Cannot imagine a 42 incher (ooh err)

Shiney - i was staying with DizzyDixies last week and i can confirm she is a magnificent baker, although i did not try the said cheesecake as i would have plummeted from my (somewhat fragile) diet wagon

We were not flooded in 2007 although the road (pretty major A road) just down from us subsided and was closed for 6 months whilst they underpinned it. Your nervousness is understandable given what you have been through, but the hill should give you hope - we live near the top of a valley so landslips aside, we should be ok

Xmas pressies sound lovely . My two are sharing a kitchen, so any pots/pans/food you might be getting rid of from DD1 i could give a home to

shiney - i may be if that is ok. was thinking along the same lines myself, as having major clearout before buying new stuff for xmas.

went to halloween party last night - junior was a bloomin nightmare, ended up both being very upset - was either chocolate cake or coming on here last night - and couldnt get on here

DEM - hope you ok hun, and Lizzy - hope you get the funeral childcare sorted

morning to everyone

TrillianSlasher · 01/11/2009 11:11

It was a very exhausting sleep. I definitely can't have been in first class on that plane or else I could have slept in my sleep.

bellavita · 01/11/2009 11:12

Sazz, when DH set it up on Friday night, I did wonder if we had made a mistake and should have got the 37 - we have gone from 32 to a 42, but in the shop it did not look that big. I am getting used to it know.

Your mum is bloody fab Shiney.

jetcat · 01/11/2009 11:16

oh, and i need xmas pressie help as well. I want to get junior a hard drive recorder thing (similar to a sky plus box) as she has sky in her room, but no video/dvd recorder.

Havent got a fortune, so would it be possible to get one for under £200?? I have no idea what to actualy look out for - the only one i can see has got freeview - but she already has sky. would that make a difference??

the only thing iknow i am getting for minijet is a peppa pig bike - she absolutely loves it AM thinking of a crying doll or similar, as she loves having tea parties, being their mum etc. It is so funny watching her, as when junior was that age (and even now) she has no imagination for role play (it freaks her out) so it is completely new to me to watch her take her little dolls to the docs for a poorly leg

god i am rambling......

jetcat · 01/11/2009 11:17

bless your mum shiney

You need a box that hs an 'in' cable the same as whatever it is that you use to connect the Sky to the TV. Sky+ is an ongoing cost, IMO much better to get a one-off box. Go ask about it on Geeky stuff or similar, they'll be able to recommend one.

Having freeview just means that if you plug it into an aerial it will pick up digital tv signals, all boxes will have this now or else they'll be a bit useless.

This one is £170, and has good reviews, but is over a year old so there might be newer and/or cheaper ones about.
