...Come and be a Venus In Fake Furs (with a nod to any vegetarians, who may enjoy the odd Quorn fillet...)on our healthy eating thread, and watch yourself vanish before your very eyes, if that is your aim!

We are supporting each other to lose weight, or just eat well and get fit- but we do like a bit of a laugh along the way, so if you are interested in joining Shiney and the other regulars here and be in the gang, just drop in and post as much as you can- the thread moves fast!

All welcome- the only quiches round here are the contraband in my fridge

Morning!

What a day DEM, hope you got some sleep.

Ooh, DIB, that ballet looks good! I saw his Swan Lake a few years back, that was hot.

Ate some naughty buffet last night at the party, but burnt off calories playing Wii.
There should be some Jagermeister-fuelled photos of me on facebook shortly.

Have to run, see you's later.

jetcat · 01/11/2009 11:55

thanks trills, will ask on the other thread. As you say, if i put sky plus in her room, it will be an extra tenner, which i already pay for the multiroom - so would be £20 on top of normal sky for downstairs.

She doesnt have a normal tele aerial up there, so has to have sky to watch all her carp

VinegarTits · 01/11/2009 11:57

Jet you can buy dvd/hard drive recorders, you should definately be able to pick on up for under £200, something similar to this maybe?

I dont know what i am getting the Finnster for crimbo yet, or where i am getting to money to buy it from either, having to get the head gasket fixed on my car has left me totally skint!

TrillianSlasher · 01/11/2009 12:02

So, no kiddies, but if w're discussing presents what shall I get DP?

SameoldbloodyIggi · 01/11/2009 12:28

Greetings all. Weigh in day today. V.optimistic as full week of no chocolate, no eating in the evenings (my biggest weaknesses). And guess what? Have gained 0.6kg. Doomed to fail forever.
For Xmas I will get DP a blindfold so he doesn't have to look at me.

TrillianSlasher · 01/11/2009 12:37

Oh no, poor Iggi. What is 0.6 kilo? Maybe it's, um, some water retention thingy that I don't understand and it'll all melt away next week.

What time of day are you weighing? Most consistent is first thing in the morning, nekkid, after a wee but before breakfast.

SameoldbloodyIggi · 01/11/2009 12:44

Thanks Trillian! I did follow that weighing plan. I have just googled .6kg and it's only 1.3 lbs, so not such a disaster.. It's just I'm easily disheartened, also a friend gave me 4 bars of belgian choc last night as a holiday souvenir and they are calling to me - tell me to go and do some exercise instead!
If you use your bossiest voice I will do it

TrillianSlasher · 01/11/2009 12:46

I have a plan: put the bars of chocolate in the freezer.

How big are they? Break into sensible-sized chunks (work out 100 cals worth maybe) and when you want some you can take it out and let it defrost. If you still want it half an hour later it'll be ready to eat. But after that half hour you might decide that you don't need it afterall, and your diet is more important than a momentary chocolate high.

VinegarTits · 01/11/2009 12:49

Thats a fab idea Trill, i would try it, but with my will power (or lack of it) i would break my teeth on some frozen chocolate

I have lost about 4lbs due to illing, but no doubt i will regain it once i get my appetite back

hellsbelles · 01/11/2009 12:55

was MN less till now so can't catch up with most! But morning all.

Jet - have a look on the QVC uk site - not that I ever do - but....they often have video presentations that you can click on to see how the things work and I'm pretty sure you can get what you are looking for for under £200.

Shiney - v. impressed you are so organised and the lists sound wonderful. Got to get sorted for DS. DD will get possibly a water bottle as that is her most favourite toy at the moment (amongst all teh stuff I have spent far too much on)!!

Iggi - sounds like you need to get back on the chocoate - giving it up obviously isn't working! Is it possibly you are pre-menstrual - I always put on weight then.

TrillianSlasher · 01/11/2009 12:57

Vinny - try to treat yourself as a recovering invalid - not a big scoffer!

SameoldbloodyIggi · 01/11/2009 12:58

That's them freezing Trillian Better than the bin which was my other thought!
Get ye behind me hellsbelles, I shall not yield to your temptations (can you tell I've been to church this morning?!)

TrillianSlasher · 01/11/2009 13:01

Milk chocolate is about 20g ish for 100 cals, if you're interested.

hellsbelles · 01/11/2009 13:03

at Iggi

VinegarTits · 01/11/2009 13:03

Ds1 has taken ds2 to his little brothers birthday party (sounds weird that doesn't it? ds1 has 3 half brothers, ds2 plus 2 boys his dad has)

So i am going back to bed for a couple of hours

bellavita · 01/11/2009 13:17

I was supposed to be making a real effort the school hol week with the watching what I eat, but it just seems to have gone wrong. We eat loads of healthy stuff, it is all in betweenies that stops me from losing weight

Trill, what hobbies does your DP have (if any)?

Iggi - a weightloss is still a loss - yay for you!

Are things really that bad Vinny?

TrillianSlasher · 01/11/2009 13:26

What DP would really like is this but as you see no chance of that. He likes beer and whiskey and cycling and running and gadgets - not gimmicky ones but only good ones that have an actual purpose. I've seen a t-shirt or two that I think he'd like, but no ideas beyond that. His parents didn't really do Christmas very much, so he won't have much in the way of expectations. I've already (since we've been together) bought him things like a lovely wallet and some cufflinks and he has a very nice coat and scarf etc.

SameoldbloodyIggi · 01/11/2009 13:28

Bellavita, I gained weight.
But am mucho cheered by sharing it on here surprisingly
AND I'm just back from doing 15 mins penance on the cross-trainer.
What's a good way to spend a wet sunday afternoon? (now that pubs & sex are out of the equation

SameoldbloodyIggi · 01/11/2009 13:30

By previous remark I meant I thought sharing my shame would make me feel more inadequate, but instead I just see next steps (you just can't take the teacher out of me, can you)

bellavita · 01/11/2009 13:50

Iggi - sorry! I just got a bit over excited there and misread.

Well Trills, umm, nice piece of kit, but a lot of money. Does he need any new running gear?

SqueezyCheesyPumpkin · 01/11/2009 13:52

How about some running socks Trills? I got these for DH a couple of years ago and they're still going strong.

Or a nice cashmere scarf? But then if he already has a nice scarf that's maybe a rubbish idea?

Dunno what to get DH this year. It's his birthday next week and John Lewis had some nice 50% off Fat Face stuff, so got him a jumper. He is working Christmas Day and Boxing Day and also New Years Day

Iggi999 · 01/11/2009 13:58

Maybe get him a picture of you, so he doesn't forget what you look like?

SqueezyCheesyPumpkin · 01/11/2009 13:59

Another namechange Iggi?

bellavita · 01/11/2009 14:01

Squeezy - what will you do on those days then? Remind me, what does he do that he has to work on xmas day...

TrillianSlasher · 01/11/2009 14:01

Thanks for the suggestions Squeezy. My Mum works in a nursing home so she's always been working at some point over Christmas too.
