...Come and be a Venus In Fake Furs (with a nod to any vegetarians, who may enjoy the odd Quorn fillet...)on our healthy eating thread, and watch yourself vanish before your very eyes, if that is your aim!

We are supporting each other to lose weight, or just eat well and get fit- but we do like a bit of a laugh along the way, so if you are interested in joining Shiney and the other regulars here and be in the gang, just drop in and post as much as you can- the thread moves fast!

All welcome- the only quiches round here are the contraband in my fridge

I do have a niggling worry though - have tried not to think about it as i think i may use it as a demotivator in my darker days.

At my heaviest, i was 19st1. If i do manage to get down to 12 or even 11 - am i likely to be left with loads of loose skin??

I am really scared of thinking that my life will be perfect when i lose weight - and i know in reality that it wont - i need to make other changes as well. But, if i do have the skin troubles that others have had, i worry that that will really put a downer on things!

BitOfFun · 03/11/2009 21:29

You tuck it in yer knickers like the rest of us and apply for Ten Years Younger

I doubt it will be a massive issue if you don't crash diet though, honestly.

hellsbelles · 03/11/2009 21:29

jet - isn't that just when people lose weight very quickly (with a gastric band or something?)....

Of course you are right - being thin doesn't make life perfect and it doesn't change things that are fundamentally wrong. But it DOES (in my opinion) give you much more confidence...and with confidence comes huge benefits - in just about everything you do.

That might sound a bit happy clappy and over the top but I do find I just do more and am generally more fun when I feel good about the way I look.

And I guess more importantly - you are healthier...which does make life fundamentally better.

I may well be rambling....and talking shite. Ignore me if so.

SazZaVoom · 03/11/2009 21:32

Jet, i think if you do it slowly and exercise that your body will adjust. I have lost nearly 3st and have no loose skin. I think if you do the gastric band or Lighter Life type diets then you would be more likely to suffer from loose skin as the weight drops off quickly

You are right that it won't solve all the troubles in life, but it definitely helps with a positive state of mind and the benefits and buzz from exercise will help keep those happy hormones flowing

SazZaVoom · 03/11/2009 21:34

That's all of us spouting shite then

TrillianAstra · 03/11/2009 21:34

So... shall I open the tin of chocs...?

jetforkesandbonfires · 03/11/2009 21:35

BoF - that made me smile! And thanks Hells - i really hope that is the case. I hope that once i start using the gym, maybe i will tone up a bit

As for getting more confidence- - i would love to find a man At the moment, i think that maybe when i reach a certain weight, i may join an online dating thing?? I do have issues though, that i wont bore you with here unless you want me to and i think that will be a major step towards being a 'new me'!

SazZaVoom · 03/11/2009 21:35

Only if you're sharing.......

jetforkesandbonfires · 03/11/2009 21:35

i think i may be allowed virtual chocs Trills

hellsbelles · 03/11/2009 21:39

Yes trills - virtual chocs good...

Jet feel free to share issues - we are all well fed with Trills chocs and ready to hear.

SazZaVoom · 03/11/2009 21:43

TrillianAstra · 03/11/2009 21:45

Hopefully we can give you a start with some virtual hugs and support. You are articulate, funny, driven, self deprecating and supportive to others and deserve a lovely man who can see and appreciate all these qualities. It WILL take time as you have some horrid stuff to deal with , but i really hope a lovely knight in shining armour comes your way

We can always offer our vetting services or send a few thread thugs over if any man doesn;t treat you as a princess

{{{{gentle hugs}}}

hellsbelles · 03/11/2009 21:55

Jet - how bloody unfair life is sometimes - so so sorry you've been through all this.

But move on you will and must - I wish I was able to give you knowledgeable guidance on this - but I would just be spouting about something I know nothing about so I better not. But I will join in the conversation when/if I can help (if that makes sense)

Iggi999 · 03/11/2009 21:56

Could lend you DP if you like, if you give me all your chocolates Have you already had some counselling to help you with the past & your future plans for your life?

jetforkesandbonfires · 03/11/2009 21:58

awww guys

thats why i like it here - i can cope with virtual friends

SparklyAlice · 03/11/2009 21:59

Jet - you sound like as well as lighter you are getting stronger. Do you think that 5 yrs ago you could admit all that to a bunch of people you don't really know? (well, yo know what i mean) Sometimes only time can heal things and it may help to think that in 6months time you may feel more confident, 12months have met a nice man who deserves you etc I thinking you are coping amazingly

Now, can you all come and tell me what a good girl i've been for not succumbing(sp?) to Ben and Jerry's wickedness

Oh, and to anyone who saw my FB update last night, i'm fine thanks, no need to worry

Trills - Mentally incapable because i do a course on tuesdays and do lots of thinkingy stuff.

SazZaVoom · 03/11/2009 22:01

Jet This one is a bit fierce, but quite manly

bellavita · 03/11/2009 22:01

Am sorry you have had a horrible time .

Hello everyone

SazZaVoom · 03/11/2009 22:03

He's cute but a little on the young side

jetforkesandbonfires · 03/11/2009 22:04

Iggi - yes i've had counselling, and Cognitive behaviour therapy. But, i tend to black out all the horrible stuff, meaning that i cant deal with it at counselling etc. It only comes out when i feel under stress

I know my CBT therapist suggested going to rape crisis couples counselling with a new boyf, but that means having to tell him, which i fear would either turn him against me, or turn him into some kind of wannabe avenger - which has happened in the past.

And on a complete change of subject - it appears that minijet has sussed how to use skyplus at the age of nearly 3 I have just checked the planner and there is a suspicious amount of Peppa Pig, Mister Maker, show me show me and something special

Iggi999 · 03/11/2009 22:05

Ben and Jerry's is apparently made from pureed slugs (insert own most repulsive thought here). Don't eat it.

jetforkesandbonfires · 03/11/2009 22:06

Sazz - he would need that to pierce my armour - now theres a metaphor if ever there was one
