...Come and be a Venus In Fake Furs (with a nod to any vegetarians, who may enjoy the odd Quorn fillet...)on our healthy eating thread, and watch yourself vanish before your very eyes, if that is your aim!

We are supporting each other to lose weight, or just eat well and get fit- but we do like a bit of a laugh along the way, so if you are interested in joining Shiney and the other regulars here and be in the gang, just drop in and post as much as you can- the thread moves fast!

All welcome- the only quiches round here are the contraband in my fridge

Homemade coleslaw is the best tasting coleslaw IMO, really yummy with spring onion as BOF said!

wastingaway · 03/11/2009 14:04

It's the yummiest.

Potatoes, with boiled egg, bacon and spring onions, mayo, pepper and nutmmeg. Yu-u-um.

TrillianAstra · 03/11/2009 14:14

Mmm, bacon. This is why being veggie is rubbish (sorry Shiney) basically everything is improved with some bacon or chorizo.

NormaSknockers · 03/11/2009 14:16

Mmmmmm sounds delish wasting!

Lizzylou · 03/11/2009 14:22

Oh dear, I am very unfit.
I just went for a run (think it was more like a joggle tbh) and it was sooo hard. Had to keep stopping even when it started peeing it down.
AND my ipod died after about 2mins so could only hear myself wheezing and wobbling.

Charging it up so I can try again tomorrow.

I want to get slimmer for CHristmas (so I can gorge myself on Rocky roads, coleslaw and peppermint creams ).

TrillianAstra · 03/11/2009 14:35

Running is hard Lizzy.

Lizzylou · 03/11/2009 14:41

It is bloody hard, but it does get results, just wish I could skip the "getting back into it" stage and be able to do 5km with (relative)ease, like I used to be able to.
My own bloody stupid fault for letting it slip.

NormaSknockers · 03/11/2009 14:58

Lizzy well done for getting back into it, are you starting from scratch or just going for it?

You were so right about it getting it easier, I went for a run the other day & it was meant to be run 5, walk 3, run 8, walk 3, run 5 but I did the first 5 mins & thought sod the walking & just kept on going! I never thought I'd manage a 5k & now I'm not far off at all. Give it another 2/3 weeks & I reckon I'll be there!!

SqueezyFawkingBonfire · 03/11/2009 15:31

Hiya

Well done on the running Lizzy and Norma, healthiness Vinny and Trills, joggler hells.

Sorry about the car Bof, bike Trills and child troubles TMW Hope it all gets sorted out cheaply and quickly.

Oh the potato salad and coleslaw sounds fab, will try it out when I get back. Am having a wee tea break from packing (it's doing my head in), my stomach has felt dodgy all day, Dehli belly, I dunno, hope not . Staying at MILs tonight and away tomorrow for a week.

Save all the gossip for me and don't be up to any mischief ladies

SqueezyFawkingBonfire · 03/11/2009 15:32

I'm rubbish at running by the way. DH goes all the time. I went with him once, blistered my foot and never went again

Lizzylou · 03/11/2009 15:37

Norma, I am sort of just doing as much as I can, it is a lot about mind over matter as well as fitness, seems both were lacking today! Good on you, once you get to a certain point it gets so much easier, well done.

Squeezy, have a lovely holiday

Don't know why you'd want to go abroad...she says looking out the window at a black sky full of rain and hail!

TMW, sorry you're having a tough time of it, hope you're getting some good advice (mine are a lot younger).

BOF, hope your DP has sorted stuff

TrillianAstra · 03/11/2009 15:41

Thanks Squeezy, can't remember what I did that was healthy though.

Ohh, do you want to know what I had for dinner last night? I had a goats cheesy thing on little round bits of bread, then a tomato and ham tart with salad. It was yummy.

I've bought a load of red onions to try to make marmalade...

Lizzylou · 03/11/2009 15:45

Trill, that sounds lovely, I love goats cheese.

Buy some ready rolled shortcrust pastry, put it in a pie dish, dollop loads of caramelised red onions on base, top with goats cheese slices and bake. Bloody lovely.

SqueezyFawkingBonfire · 03/11/2009 15:47

Oh I was referring to the lentil chilli but realised that is a near future adventure in healthiness

TrillianAstra · 03/11/2009 15:51
Grin
TrillianAstra · 03/11/2009 16:51

Hmm, what to have for dinner?

Lentil chilli is for me for lunch - DP won't eat lentils or kidney beans at the best of times, woul dbe very mean to make him eat it hwne he's ill.

I'm a bit hungry - should go find fruit or somehting similar rather than chocolate.

TrillianAstra · 03/11/2009 17:25

Where did you all go?

bellavita · 03/11/2009 17:37

Hello

DH got a meeting tonight, so boys are going to have beens on toast and I will have some sauted leeks, mushrooms and peppers mixed with some fusilli.

Have just got in from work and feel bushed.

bellavita · 03/11/2009 18:05

Aww, our friend Slubber, who I haven't actually seen on our thread for a while has just called me mate.... >

bellavita · 03/11/2009 18:23

I forgot to say Shiney - dvd arrived today - many thanks.

SparklyAlice · 03/11/2009 18:26

Iggi999 · 03/11/2009 18:59

Bonsoir. Just got poorly baby to sleep. One or other of us have been sick for past five weeks now. Need to move somewhere healthier! I am currently eating a Hartley's jelly thing. Says less than 10 calories and very tasty. Must have loads of sweetner. Can't decide between taking a bath and arguing with DP about who should stay off tomorrow.
