...Come and be a Venus In Fake Furs (with a nod to any vegetarians, who may enjoy the odd Quorn fillet...)on our healthy eating thread, and watch yourself vanish before your very eyes, if that is your aim!

We are supporting each other to lose weight, or just eat well and get fit- but we do like a bit of a laugh along the way, so if you are interested in joining Shiney and the other regulars here and be in the gang, just drop in and post as much as you can- the thread moves fast!

All welcome- the only quiches round here are the contraband in my fridge

Hiya ladies

Nothing much to report.

Vinny hope you start feeling better soon lady. Sometimes when the weather is miserable like this, things just feel worse, plus there's that old Monday feeling on top of that, double yuck.

Well done on the workout hells!

Saz, hope your little ones ok Poor mite. By the way, the little pumpkin suited person on FB is fab - the height of cuteness!

TrillianAstra · 02/11/2009 15:00

My bank balance might disagree, but you're all right, I should definitely enjoy it.

Just been for a ride in a very cool car.

jetforkesandbonfires · 02/11/2009 15:07

Five - i think i would be rightly pissed off as well!

hells - well done on the exercise - you never know, you might shame encourage the rest of us into doing some

Vinny - you're still poorly

TMW - that sounds like a reasonable goal, and well done on the paintings

Hi to everyone else, and stuff is posted Jac - though judging by the amount of stuff at the post office waiting to be collected/sorted, it could take a while I found a lovely book that was a pressie for minijet but she didnt like it, so have added that in as well

TrillianAstra · 02/11/2009 15:09

It looked a bit like this

Hi Jet. Is the post office really bad? One of my friends has a birthday on the 11th - should I have sent stuff last week?

Lizzylou · 02/11/2009 15:14

Hi all

Hope you are all well.

Had a dentists appointment this morning and will have to have a tooth out, because I have unfeasibly small/short root canal thngys so can't have a filling. Who knew that on this size of a brick sh*t house 5ft 9" body the only things that would be petite would be my farking root canals???

Never mind, it won't be too noticeable and have been a bit nil by mouth so good on food consumption today.

TrillianAstra · 02/11/2009 15:17

Hi Lizzy - hope the dentist didn't poke and prod you too roughly. Is your tooth hurting? Can they get it out soon?

Lizzylou · 02/11/2009 15:20

It's not hurting anymore, last week it was awful and I had an emergency appointment booked on Friday, but then had to cancel due to DH having to go to his Dads. Bizarrely it hasn't hurt since!
Now they've cleaned it all up it's OK, was uncomfortable at the dentist, but not too painful.
Felt more sorry for the dentist as she had a v bad stutter and was trying to answer my questions and give me some options (before we found out about my petite root canals), felt bad asking anything but needed to and didn't want to be patronising by not asking........gah

Lizzylou · 02/11/2009 15:22

Oh and Trills, live it up, go out and drink champagne.
Thats an order, I miss my hedonistic pre-DC days, take advantage of not having to worry about babysitters while you can.....

SqueezyFawkingBonfire · 02/11/2009 15:58

Oh yes Trills, have a fabbo time. That is what I like to see....out drinking champagne (no less) on a Monday, yes a Monday night! Good for you!

Lizzy - ouch at dentist. Hope things are (as) ok (as they can be) with your DH, FIL and everything?

Trills - it looked a lot, and the postie, who came to collect it all while i was there, nearly had a heart attack! It was only a small sub-post office I think to post all my xmas stuff, i will go with a courier option rather than royal mail - better safe than sorry

Shiney - errrr, snap I have just had apple and blackberry crumble

SazZaVoom · 02/11/2009 16:18

Just run 5k in 29:55. Was determined to break the 30 min barrier

TrillianAstra · 02/11/2009 16:32

Wow, well done Saz!

jetforkesandbonfires · 02/11/2009 16:39

wow - that s fab sazz

one good thing from junior's halloween party - i won a years free membership at a local gym It is only a small one - no pool or anything, and i still have to pay a couple of pound per visit, but still.....

Lizzylou · 02/11/2009 16:57

Cor, well done you Sazz, that is a great time.

Ahem, cough, > cough splutter

SazZaVoom · 02/11/2009 17:53

Thanks all . Was pretty chuffed as i am a confirmed non-runner, but stupidly allowed someone to challenge me to 10k before Xmas in under an hour

Thanks also for your comments re DD2. It was pretty upsetting (although she is fine) and still has marks. It is bound to happen at some point i guess but a bit nonetheless

Squeezy - not sure who is in the pumpkin outfit. Was it one of my pics [intrigued]

Jet - that is brilliant to win that prize. Worth a lot of money, although odd you still have to pay

Lizzy - sorry but i did have to LOL at your nil by mouth diet approach . Hope your tooth feel better soon

Lizzylou · 02/11/2009 18:07

OOh, am sitting on my hands having just read Christmas appeal thread, honestly

alysonpeaches · 02/11/2009 18:07

I only read this thread because you quoted Venus in Furs.

I need to eat more carefully though as I am seriously run down.

Well not so much for weight loss, but more for building up my immune system. I need to make sure I get my 5 a day and all that, but I find it hard to faff with veg etc with 4 kids, there isnt enough hours in the day. I tend to get those bags of ready prepared veg from Sainsbury's. I guess I need to pull my finger out a bit. Ive got shingles at the moment though, so thats my excuse. Before the postal strike I was on twice weekly graze boxes, but I dont want them now theres no fruit in them.

hellsbelles · 02/11/2009 18:52

whats the christmas appeal lizzy?

I made some lentil & carrot soup for supper - actually rather nice though DS wasn't so keen! And following Trills example I stopped when I was full to leave space for chocolate torte

alysonpeaches · 02/11/2009 18:57

think I need a new name too but viralmagnet or nitsloveme are all I can come up with.

Lizzylou · 02/11/2009 18:57

Hells, there is a sticky at he top of the talk home page.
It was set up a few years ago, you can nominate people to receive and can offer to give....

Hey Alyson, welcome and hope you feel better soon. Soup is another good one for packing the veg in, smoothies for fruit?

bellavita · 02/11/2009 19:00

Hi Alyson

Lizzy - why are you at the appeal thread - have I missed summat?

Been really good today - had toast for b/fast, salmon salad for lunch and a roast beef dinner for tea.

Thanks for posting dvd Shiney btw when do you start the new job?
