...Come and be a Venus In Fake Furs (with a nod to any vegetarians, who may enjoy the odd Quorn fillet...)on our healthy eating thread, and watch yourself vanish before your very eyes, if that is your aim!

We are supporting each other to lose weight, or just eat well and get fit- but we do like a bit of a laugh along the way, so if you are interested in joining Shiney and the other regulars here and be in the gang, just drop in and post as much as you can- the thread moves fast!

All welcome- the only quiches round here are the contraband in my fridge

Oh Flamingo, I meant to say earlier - well done on MrFlamingo selling a car - YAY!

Iggi999 · 01/11/2009 14:06

Just going back to non-halloween and non-havingagoatmyself name
I'm sure there are loads of positives too about getting to spend Christmas doing your own thing! We both have fortnight off (yes I'm not expecting any sympathy for this) and really get under eachother's feet by the end of it.

DreamsInBinary · 01/11/2009 14:08

Coming in a bit late, here, but why are pubs and sex out of the equation, Iggi?

SqueezyCheesyPumpkin · 01/11/2009 14:08

I'll stay in the house and eat millions of chocolate and watch rubbish on telly. I don't have a family dynamic where we meet up for Christmas etc.

He's an air traffic controller Bella, relatively small industry so I hope that doesn't out me or him

DreamsInBinary · 01/11/2009 14:09

I was just thinking exactly the same, Bella

Obv a perfect career move!

Iggi999 · 01/11/2009 14:10

Because DS isn't allowed in one and kind of inhibits the other, DIB! (speaking about this afternoon you understand, not forever and ever. Though DP might disagree with me..)
Can I come and spend Christmas with you Squeezy, sounds perfect.

jaquelinehyde · 01/11/2009 14:11

Good afternoon ladies, how are we all doing.

Quite a few people had a pretty shit day yesterday by the looks of it. Onwards and upwards ladies, onwards and upwards. Life just knocks you out some days, but thankfully those days appear to be in the minority.

Yesterday we dressed the children up, covered them in my makeup, back combed and hairsprayed hair to within ana inch of it's life, and wandered round to my Mums as she had put on a little party tea for the kids. Oh and I met my brothers new girlfriend, she seams very nice .

Today I have spent most of it undoing what I did yesterday. Back combing and hairspraying afro hair was always going to be a mistake. So I have spent about 2 hours in the bath with the 3 DCs, scrubbing, combing, and scrubbing a bit more

Now we are all snuggled in PJ's, and the mega plus of the day in no cooking, or even prepairing because Mum gave me all the left over party food, so we are having a buffet day.

Iggi999 · 01/11/2009 14:12

I did work experience as an air traffic controller when I was at school. Now obviously I wasn't allowed to touch anything

DreamsInBinary · 01/11/2009 14:13

Ah, yes Iggi, that sounds familiar

SqueezyCheesyPumpkin · 01/11/2009 14:14

Oh yes Iggi, come down and join in the perfect peace, I make a mean mulled wine

hellsbelles · 01/11/2009 14:15

jac sounds like the right way to spend a rainy sunday

here we are being very very lazy. I've let DS play on his nintendo far too long while I read the papers. Poor DH is having to catch up on work so has holed himself in the other room. May make a chocolate torte to cheer him up!

jaquelinehyde · 01/11/2009 14:16

Ooooh Christmas talk

Well it is November...where the hell did the rest of the year go

SqueezyCheesyPumpkin · 01/11/2009 14:17

Oh Jac your day today sounds perfect

I know, November already

jaquelinehyde · 01/11/2009 14:24

Well my Novemeber is pretty damn busy, so I really need to be prepared.

I have DS's 4th Birthday on the 11th

My eldest brothers Wedding reception on the 21st (he got married on the shetland isles over the summer)

My youngest brothers 18th Bday on the 23rd

My Mum and Dads (stepdads but I don't see it like that) silver wedding anniversary on the 30th.

Wow what a month.

jaquelinehyde · 01/11/2009 14:33

So for DS's bday we have got him

Diego rescue pack
Spiderman dressing up outfit
Wooden train track (to add to his collection)
and I will pick him up a box of Roses (family tradition for bdays).

He will get stuff from the rest of my family, so I think that's plenty, especially this close to Christmas.

I need to give £10 towards my brothers wedding gift.

£20 to my Mum for my little bros 18th (they've managed to get him a £200 rust bucket car)

Finally we have decided to get Mum and Dad flights to the shetland isles for their anniversary (to see relatives) and my delightful brother has said that he will cover my share (and not tell anyone) Yay.

bellavita · 01/11/2009 14:52

at Squeezy.

Tis a good date for a birthday jaq - the 11th November... tis DS2's birthday also

Have not bought his birthday present yet - will probably order something tonight. He is into Warhmammer and loves Lego City stuff. He has pointed out loads of lego he wants, but will get one thing as it is sooo bloody expensive.

vastingavay · 01/11/2009 14:59

Sounds like a lovely day today Jaq, and that's so lovely of your brother to cover your share.

I am not at all prepared for Christmas.
So far DS has a football strip outfit (last season's bought in the sale) plus a set of paints, paint pots and brushes from ELC. Think I'll get him a Macka Packa and Yojojo as they're his faves atm.

DreamsInBinary · 01/11/2009 15:56

Oh ffs. Tesco delivery was to be between 1 and 3 and it's still not here. After 12 minutes on phone to customer services, they still can't contact the store or driver, and so do not expect it to be delivered today.

Am hungry and have two toddlers with cabin fever.

Waitrose next time

jaquelinehyde · 01/11/2009 16:07

bella, a good day indeed.

DIB how annoying. I would be furious, make sure they don't charge you for the delivery and I would be asking for some form of compensation. In the form of a box of chocolates apple

I agree with jaq DIB, give them hell.

TrillianSlasher · 01/11/2009 16:41

DIB, try here for direct phone numbers for Tesco.

Just been to Homebase to get a new showerhead. How exciting. Did find a pretty necklace in Dorothy Perkins (they have one on the retail park) so not just a boring trip.

bellavita · 01/11/2009 16:44

I would like to know more about Squeezy's creations. Do you have a shop or sell online?

SqueezyCheesyPumpkin · 01/11/2009 17:06

Bella.

I sell mostly word of mouth for weddings, ladies race days, stuff to match outfits and odds and ends. My hairdresser puts a fair bit of business my way too. Used to have a website but it was so hard getting business and Google rankings, was costing me too much in time and money to run it.

Have been working on some new jewellery, will stick the pics on FB when I get back from hols

BecauseImWorthIt · 01/11/2009 17:32

Oh no.

I appear to have an accident with a tin of Quality Street ...
