green vaginal discharge

I have been suffering with green mucus like vaginal discharge for about 3 years now, along with abdominal pain and tiredness. I have been to the Doctor's many times and taken the antibiotics they have prescribed but nothing seems to work. i even had a laparoscopy 2 years ago and nothing was found.
I have left it alone for the past 18 months or so in the hope that it would go away. I feel like a raving hypochondriac every time I go to the Drs as they can never find anything wrong.
This is really getting me down now and I don't know what to do next. Your suggestions would be appreciated.

gosh, not nice for you.
have you been referred on to any specialist?

pottycock · 23/10/2009 22:15

have they referred you to a sexual health clinic? could it be some sort of infection? poor you having to put up with that for three years. Is there a well woman place you could go to instead of the doctors?

montymoo · 23/10/2009 22:19

Thanks for your swift replies Slarty and potty. Yes I did get referred to the sexual health clinic and all the tests I had for STDs came back negative. I also saw the consultant at the hospital who could find no cause for these symptoms.

Well it must be something. Have you googled?

SlartyBartFast · 23/10/2009 22:25

can you get a second opinion from another hospital?

montymoo · 23/10/2009 22:30

Yes I have googled and most of the results I have come up with point towards seeing the GP. Since my last visit to the GP in relation to this, I have moved to a different area so it would be a 2nd opinion. However I am paranoid that my medical records are marked in some way as when I saw my current GP in relation to the obstetric cholestasis I had while pregnant he tried to assure me it was all in my mind and it could be cured by hypnotherapy... that was until he got the blood test results!

You're sure nothing's stuck up there?

If it's green it does sound like an infection - have they tested you for everything and can you be certian you are not being re- infected after having some kind of treatment?

If you haven't been tested for all stds within the last couple of months then maybe you ought to go back again.

purplepeony · 23/10/2009 22:39

p.s.- you don't need tosee your GP at all- go to a walk-in sexual health/GU clinic.

I am having the same problem. I have just had a colposcopy done, they think I have a CIN 2 and possibly hpv as the doctor told me that hpv sometimes causes green discharge depending on the strain. It has taken me four months to get any sort of referral for anything. I also got told so many different things. I got told it was an std, though my test came back clear twice. I got told thrush, I got told it was normal, I got told it was the implant, got the implant out and then when the bleeding stopped that was when my doctor was finally able to have a look (I was having month long periods with like a week break in between so they were only able to guess) they found a growth. Don't stop, push to get it sorted, I am, I don't see my usual doctor anymore because he was the one that was like "why are you here? Your tests were fine so leave it" glad I didn't listen to him. Sorry if that was a bit of a ramble but I understand what you are going through. Smile
