This is the 3rd time this year that I'm getting thrush down there and I am so and that it keeps coming back.

My Dh is clear, we had him checked, we didn't even have sex for 2 weeks as we missed each other while travelling.

I drank a bit more alcohol this week, 4 birthday parties (mine included) and I think it may be my diet. I don't eat sweets but can this really be down to food/drink intake? Is it so easy to throw my vaginal flora out of balance with a few glasses too many?? It was 4 small glasses of white wine & a G&T with dinner 4 nights in a row and 1 glass of champagne on one occasion not what I call a massive drinking binge.

I went to see OB gyn, got my dose of fluconazole, 6 day vag tablets and that's all. For the 3rd bloody time!! What can I do to stop this, I am really desperate now.

had this prob for years and have been clear now for guess 5 years due to only washing with special fanny wash. ie. vagisil/ femfresh.

BitOfFun · 29/09/2009 16:55

My GP said it was hormanal. My vagina is definitely a bit hostile today though

thought that would make you smile

I do think hormones have a lot to do with it!

Not much luck at the docs, just gave me the pessary and cream,i did go to see her about some spotting i've had so i think she was more concerned about that, sorry i have'nt been much help, think i'm going to try femfresh or something, hate not being able to use bubble bath
Hope you get it sorted soon

I get recurrent thrush about once every three months, always in the week before AF so it must be something to do with the hormone changes.

I've got so fed up with faffing with pessaries, Drs appts and waiting for swabs to come back I just go and buy some fluconazole over the counter and it usually sorts it within 2-4 days.

I never drink wine and try to avoid bread if I think I've got an attack coming on.

It's a real pain, and I have thought about asking for a referral too.

Hello ladies, thank you so much for your kind help and suggestions.

AP, I just snorted into my coffee . I definitely have a very angry, hostile vagina these days.

BOF, yes, I know it's not the end of the world but I feel wretched I have it AGAIN for no apparent reason.

Cranberry, I'm on Ciprobay 500 now, given to me by another doc. I am not in the UK and hence no good fanny specialists around, in fact, where I live most expats prefer to fly home for treatment.

BIWI, thank you for the list, it's a tad harsh, isn't it? I already feel so limited anyway. Worth a try though, I am clutching at straws. What is it with left over food? Interesting as I am the one in the household that has to eat all the left overs as my DH wants to eat fresh stuff every evening so I scoff the left overs at lunch.

I hormon changes, I'm sure that's totally beyond my control and I feel the stress has made it worse.

I got nits from my friend's kids the other week and I didn't know where to scratch first. Fuck. I'm still so miserable. At least the nits seem to be gone, had that 8 weeks ago and the buggers came back as soon as I met them again. Life's not fair. Sometimes it just comes at you from all sides.

Will scout for femfresh / vagisil now. Thought not to take them because they can cause it in the first place.
