wasn't listening to the doctor yesterday, what did they take blood for?

I've been feeling pretty rubbish recently, fainted a few times over the weekend and feel sick and dizzy all the time. I went to see my gp yesterday and she checked my blood sugar and then took 3 blood samples to send off for testing. She did tell me what they were for but I was feeling yuk and didn't really take it in.

any idea what they'll be testing for? could wait until I see her on friday to find out but I'm worrying about it now.

I suspect they're checking for anaemia, thyroid and glucose.

beansmum · 07/06/2005 12:26

probably, she was really vicious with the blood sugar thumb thingy too, got a bruise.

probably a blood count to check for anaemia amongst other things, possibly a thyroid function test. Can't think what else though.
Does that ring any bells?

beansmum · 07/06/2005 12:28

she mentioned blood count, that's for anaemia then is it?

ring your docs and check

beansmum · 07/06/2005 12:30

would feel stupid doing that! It's probably nothing anyway.

well i would... anyway you have fainted a few times over the weekend and sick, so youre bound not to take everything in... it either that or just sit back and wait if you do get a phone call, as if you are not aneamic etc, they wont ring ya as no news to tell ya unless there was

beansmum · 07/06/2005 12:34

they're not going to ring, have to go back in on friday and see my gp again. Is that weird? I suppose if the tests show nothing then it'll just be a very short appointment

thanks I think it's just exhaustion to be honest, wish it was something medical that I could do something about though.
