Dd1 (13) is on her second proper period and finding it very hard. She is getting through one nighttime sanitary towel per hour.
Is this a matter for GP?
Is there something diet/supplement wise that would help?

Tia

Usually docs are happy to hand out the pill and never investigate the cause of the heavy periods
Having endured them for 20 years I wish someone had done some investigation in my teens

I would never want any other female to go through the period agonies that I have and I'm now 42. I feel very strongly that the underlying causes of severe and ongoing period pains should be properly investigated. I also feel that many GPs are ingorant when it comes to such issues (I had one GP tell me that endometriosis was not common, I soon put him right on that point) and are all too quick to write a presciption to treat the symptoms. I have nothing against treating the symptoms but the cause should also be determined.

Glasgowlass - am appalled at your story, think you've been really mucked about. I hope you get answers soon. Some endometriosis lesions can be atypical in nature; I would put money on it that endo is a possible cause for all your pains now. Please keep us updated.

Attila - i have been mucked about I know that now, back then I was just grateful to be getting "help" IYSWIM? I now know to push for what I want. Will certainly keep you all updated on the boards.

Thank you all so much.

I am in a bad way atm and can't respond to individuals as I want to.
But you are all so much appreciated and I feel that dd1 and I now have a good starting point to begin dealing with these things.
