Anyone know about Psoriasis ???

My hibby began with Psoriasis about 2 years ago and its spreading like crazy!! He hasbeen given so many creams Ive lost track of them all! He has new areas of it coming on his shoulders/back and is in agony between his legs with it. I feel for him as nothing has worked for it so we wondered if any fellow sufferers had any advice for him? And is it true that sun / sunbeds are good for it?

I am off to bed now, but I will post tommorrow, I have suffered since I was 13. Sun definately helps. Best cream was from Taylor Jackson - had some aloe vera type stuff in it.

my dh suffers from it to, things that make it worse - fatty foods, alcohol,smoking, citrus fruit stress, illness/being run down. things that help - steroid creams, but he won't use them due to the side effects, sun, fish oils and glucosamine (as he suffers from psoriatic arthritis. A few years ago he spent 3 weeks at the dead sea doing various treatments including a lot of sun bathing and it almost vanished, unfortunately all of these things only help as yet there is no cure. He is constantly checking the web sites etc for info treatments etc, he was thinking about trying a medication, don't recall the name (he is away on business in detroit so i'll ask him tomorrow) but men can't take it when trying to concieve so we've postponed that one. I'll post again tomorrow once i've spoken to him. the concern that i have is that as there is the poss of there being a genetic link is that one of our kids may get it, particularly my dd ( i know that sounds sexist, but i think that sort of thing is more concerning for a girl due to the "visual" aspect of it)

Sun definitely helps, I agree - mine clears up during the summer. I use a herbal cream that contains comfrey and cade - mine clears up completely with frequent use (2-3 times a day), I've recommended it to others and it definitely reduces the angriness and the itching. I have a phone no somewhere of the stockist (I bought it at a country show)...... cost me £6 a jar at the time.

it is an auto immune condition so it is your own body attacking your skin There are some medications for dampening down the immune system and they do work but the side effects are quite bad for some people so I would go down the natural route if you can My sister has it and she is a homeopath so I will ask her what she uses as she keeps it at bay I'll post later when I speak to her xx

Also, if your DH has psoriasis on the scalp, the scalp oil is really soothing.

When it is not so bad, Aveeno cream is good to keep the dry patches at bay.

My niece has had terrible psoriasis (deaf because of the build-up in her ears, split skin on her scalp and her waistline, bullying because of her appearance) since she was 3mths old. They tried everything for her but it only cleared up properly when she had ?PUVA treatment. Not quite sure what it entails but it worked for her. Sunshine holidays helped and so did pregnancy but I guess that's not on the cards for your dh!

My dh also has psoriasis though the skin problem has eased off considerably in favour of psoriatic arthritis, which is horrid. Twiglett's dh has bad psoriasis, hope she sees this and replies, as she's a fount of knowledge.
