Anyone got PCOS and conceived second child?

My dd is nearly one and I still haven't had a period (stopped breast-feeding at 8 months). I know I have PCOS and I was v worried first time round that I wouldn't conceive. But somehow managed. I thought having a baby might regulate my periods but doesn't look like it. I'm wondering how difficult it's going to be to conceive again and whether I should start trying immediately in case it takes years. Anyone else with PCOS who know about these things?

I have PCOS and breast fed until ds was one, i got pg again before my periods restarted!a happy accident, as i assumed it wasn't possible at least until my periods were back to normal.i guess it's up to you, if you want to "risk" getting pg again really soon.Remember that it can take medically"normal" people months/years to conceive too!How long did it take you first time?I breast fed dd for a year, she is now 2 and periods are still not back to "normal", but that's another thread!

I conceived while bf and on mini-pill despite pcos.

Why not start now in case it does take years? If it doesn't, you just have a smaller age gap.

I conceived dc2 first period after stopping bf, when dc1 was 5 months, and dc3 first time we tried two 1/2 years after that. Have pco.
I would recommend ttc now because small age gaps are ace, and also afaik your fertility level after giving birth is higher and decreases as time passes

to answer your question, virago, it didn't take me long to conceive dd. i came off the pill in november and was pregnant by the end of january. the weird thing is i didn't have periods when i was on the pill and then i didn't have one when i came off, i just discovered i was pregnant. so i haven't had a proper period for about three years. i can't decide whether to ttc or whether to go back on the pill, which some say can regulate your cycle and make your more likely to have rebound fertility eg your ovulate when you come off. which is probably why i conceived last time. wld love to hear from more mumsnetters with pcos
