mumhadenough · 19/09/2009 21:01

I'm an a+ too, don't think its that rare but not the most common either. Is it not something like 9% of the population or something like that?

NHSworkerbee · 19/09/2009 21:02

I think commonest is O pos.

A pos about 34% iirc

mumhadenough · 19/09/2009 21:02

I lie, its 35%, A- is 7%, you can see the stats here

Kathrina · 20/09/2009 09:46

That is really interesting as i am O+ the most common and my hubby is AB- the rarest. We both used to give blood but i was called up more than hubby not sure why. Would like to know what my childrens blood groups could be??

Honneybunny · 20/09/2009 12:34

Kathrina, you are called more often as O+ blood is accepted by A+, B+, AB+ and other O+ patients. Your blood is therefore much more in demand than your husband's AB-.
I think your kids can be any blood type except for AB+ or -.

Kathrina · 20/09/2009 12:39

Thanks Honneybunny. I didn't know that.

Honneybunny · 20/09/2009 12:42

oh, no sorry, they will not be O either... they will be either A or B. And they can be either "+" or "-", I think.
