Implanon/Contraceptive Implant

Hiya everyone just looking for some comfort/advice.

I got the implanon implant put in on 19th august after the birth of my first baby. The reason I chose this was I was worried i would forget to take a pill, I wish i read up on the implant before it was put in. Since then I have experienced a lot of itching around the implant area as well as a slight rash. I have also experienced heart flutters as if I am in a constant state of panic and feel that I am getting slightly depressed (my post natal questionnaire showed I was border-line PND). I would love for this implant to be taken out as dont think this is helping me, but i have read on websites that some places refuse to remove the implant until after 6 months. Do you guys have any experience of this and also do you think the docs will remove the implant at my request or force me to keep it in for the 6 months?? I am very worried about keeping it in and the thought of it still being in me is making me more depressed.

I've had mine in for about a year and I've had enough of the side effects. I'm going to ask for it to be taken out and go back on the pill. I can't answer your question I'm afraid, I just wanted to empathise!

giddykipper I am sick of the side-effects just after 3 weeks i really cant stand this anymore will be calling first thing tomorrow for a removal asap, suppose they can't really force you to keep it in can they lol bring back the trusty microgynon pill i was on i knew how that worked lol

laura I came off the pill for the same reason as you - having been off the pill for ttc and pregnancy I kept forgetting to take it. Implanon has been a nightmare though, definitely better the devil you know.

Thanks stayfrosty i am calling first thing tomorrow to arrange an appointment to getget it removed. trying not to worry tho, this has totally knocked me into depression and def made my PND worse

Thanks again, think i will be requesting Microgynon again, I was on that for over 5 years then came off it when me and DH were ttc, took us 2 years to conceive but at least i knew and was comfortable with the side effects that came with the Pill.

My daughter had a contraceptive implant around 2 months ago. Since then she has become very irritable and difficult to be around. She has gained weight and also has become very spotty. She is also very snappy and impatient with my wee granddaughter.
I have tried to speak to her about considering having it removed. Everyone who knows her has seen the change and her behaviour is jeopardising relationships with friends and family.
Are these side effect similar to posters who have had the implant removed?

I had implanon in for maybe a couple of months but it made me a monster with my hormones - felt like punching a wall most of the time which isn't me at all. They can't force you to leave it in, I went to a family planning clinic and although they tried to talk me out of it they took it out because that what i wanted.

mines itching uncontrabley and its irritating me, ive had it in a few weeeks now. im so emotional with it and ive been having there horrible mood swings. i basically had a nervous break down the other night. ive made a doctors appiontment tio get it out!!! the doctors dont tell you anything like this when you get it done :(

If if does not agree with you, get it out. It is different for everybody. I loved mine.
Of course nobody can make you keep it if you hate it so much.
Having said that 3 weeks is really not a very long time and mood can settle again. How old is your baby?
The itching could be an allergy from the dressing/butterfly stitches you may have had on?
Definitely get checked out.

Ok, so i had the implant on the 18th of November, i come off my period on the 17th and now I've started to bleed again! Anyone know why this could be? It's my first time having the implant too, if anyone can help, I'd really appreciate it.
