wisdom tooth removal on nhs - waiting time??

I have an impacted wisdom tooth that keeps getting infected. Dentist says i can go on waiting list to have it removed at hospital. I am going back next week to ask to go on list as infected again.

I was wondering how long others have waited from referral to treatment. I have heard stories of years

i have to have some roots removed in the dental hospital it will have been 3 mths by the time i have the op, it speeds things along if you say its urgent and get them to call you if they have cancellations
